(The next morning)

*Audrey's mum POV*

"Yes mum, Chronic Leukemia.. The doctor thinks she has a year. I think she will beat cancer though mum, she's a fighter. No, I don't know when the radiation is mum. Okay mum, i'll talk to you soon. Bye, love you"

I walked up the stairs and saw that Audrey was still asleep. She sleeps in until about 3:00 in the afternoon if she doesn't have to get up for school.

I walked back down the stairs and sat on the table, thinking about yesterday. How my baby girl on has a year, she's still too young.

I grabbed the phone again, and continued to call family members and let them know about Audrey and how she has Leukemia.

Same questions after another, how long does she have?

Telling them she has a year and then hearing them cry on the other end of the line, it breaks my heart.

Family member, after family member.

I came across the Horan's. Long time family friends, I was thinking of calling them but what if Niall answers? No, he shouldn't he's on tour.

I started dialing the long distance number to Ireland, it only took a few rings before Maura answered.

"Hello, Maura? It's me, Kayla. Yes! It's lovely to hear from you to- Oh yes we're.. fine. how's Niall and everybody? that's great. Well, that's actually why I'm calling. Um, Audrey has Leukemia. Yeah, it was confirmed yesterday. How long? the doctors say about a year, but we all know that Audrey is going to last longer, she's been a fighter, you know that. Maura, don't cry. She's going to be fine. NO! don't tell Niall, i'm going to let Audrey do it. It's better if it comes from her than us. I've got to go, I think Audrey is getting up. I'll call you soon, lots of love to everyone. you too! byee!"

*Audrey's POV*

I rubbed my eyes and stretched and looked around, realizing I fell asleep in my mums room. I walked out of my mum's room and about to walk down the stairs until I heard my mum on the phone;

"Its better if it comes from her than us. I've got to go, I think Audrey is getting up. I'll call you soon, lots of love to everyone. you too! byee!"

Who was my mother talking to and, why in such a rush to get off the phone? I got to the bottom of the stairs and peeked around the corner, and saw my mother cooking breakfast.

"Morning Mum" I said in a confused tone.

"Oh, morning sweetie. You're up early"

"Yeah, well I heard you on the phone! Who was on the phone mum?"

"Oh just an old friend."

I could tell she was lying by the way she was acting.

"Mum, seriously who was on the phone?"

She tried to ignore my question, I don't know why.

"Mum..."

"... I called Maura."

"As in.. Maura, Niall's mum?"

"Y-yes"

"Mum! why?"

"Audrey she deserved to know, Niall deserves to know. You need to call him up and tell him!"

"Mum, we haven't talked in like 2 years. Why would he care? he's famous now!"

She gave me that, look that all mother do. The one where they want you to do that one important thing. That one thing that will mean the world to her.

"Can we just have breakfast mum? I'm starving"

She gave me a disapproving look, and served me my breakfast. Eggs, sausage, pancakes and fruit.

I finished my breakfast, and went up to my room where I could start my bucket list.

"Learn to play the guitar" I whispered to myself as it replayed in my head over, and over.

"Niall"

Shit, no. I'm not calling him, he won't even care. Audrey, you don't need to call him you haven't seen him ages, he probably won't even remember me. He's got his famous friends.

No, he deserves to know. I picked up my phone and started scrolling until I reached the N's.

I pressed his contact name again bringing up his number, I hesitated a little before I accidently clicked the call button.

( Niall's POV )

"Hello?"

Who in the world was calling me at 2am in the morning?

"Audrey? Is that you? What's wrong......? Slow down! You what? Leukemia!"

Right then, my world stopped. My childhood friend, the girl I used to tell everything to has Leukemia?

She was rambling on about how sorry she was, but I

tuned out of it.

"How long do you have Audrey?.... fuck, a year!?" i shouted, realizing what i have just done i cover my mouth.

I haven't spoken to her in ages, I slam my phone on the ground. I sit on the end of my bed, in a ball crying, something i haven't done in a very, very long time. My hearts broken a little, I still love her, she's like a sister to me.

I walk over to my phone and see the call dropped, damn tour bus reception.

"Niall mate, what's wrong?" I look up to see Liam rubbing his eyes

"Sorry Liam, I didn't mean to wake you, I just got bad news" My eyes were burning so I quickly brought them down to stare at the floor.

"What happened?" He came to sit next to me on the bed, rubbing my back trying to calm me down.

"I got a call from this girl who I used to hang around with when I was younger, and-and-"

"Shhh, Niall it's okay. She's going to be fine!"

"LIAM, SHE HAS A FUCKING YEAR! DOES THAT SOUND FINE TO YOU?"

"Niall! They don't know that, if anything she could beat cancer! I think what she needs right now is a friend, why don't you fly down to see her?"

I sniffled a bit before answering Liam's question, he always knows what to say

"What about you boys? Don't you need me?"

"We'll be fine, we have a break for 5 days. It gives you chance to catch up"

I nodded my head and started dialing the airlines number to see if they have a seat available for tomorrow morning to California. I looked up at Liam with a huge smile on my face and nodded excitedly.

I was finally going to get a chance to see my long time childhood friend.
