Once upon a time, four spirits roamed Ariia, once called Earth. They each took the shape of certain animals, Ice took a shimmery blue wolf form, Earth took a gravelly brown falcon form, Wind took a transparent silver cheetah form, and Fire took a flowing fish form. The spirits died, as all spirits do, after about one thousand years, and their souls were taken by Goddess and buried in a locked chest.
A woman named Jillean and a man named Paulech walked together in their new backyard, and sensed a glowing light. They got a heavy shovel and dug until they reached the ancient box. Jillean, a woman of powerful magic, unlocked the box and the four spirits swarmed around the couple.
Years later, they had four children, Nicolle, nicknamed Cole, who had shimmery blue hair, Asilinn, who had wispy gray hair, Brannon, who had dark brown clumpy hair, and Darin, who had bright red fiery hair.
These four children were the reborn spirits, in human forms. They would be given their winged wolf in only a matter of time, and sent off to find magical creatures. Only when they reached 13 years old would they be told of their heritage. They were 11 when they set out.
