They were your average high school girls.
Viviana Campbell, top of her class at Silver Oak Academy for Girls, and captain of the cheerleading team.
Aly Cruz, a not-so-ideal student at Maple Ridge High School, and star player of the varsity volleyball team.
These two were opposites, a fact many would bring up when finding out the two girls were cousins, and the best of friends. Though they lived in different towns their whole lives, they saw each other so much when they were younger, they basically grew up together.
Because they were so close, they did everything together. They went shopping and partying, read and played on their phones in silence, went on vacations. They were a packaged deal. If you invited one of them, you'd get both of them.
Like tonight, at the first track meet at Maple Ridge for the season. An asshole of a boy that has constantly been flirting with Aly, that she can't seem to remember the name of, invited her to the meet to watch him compete. She went, though it wasn't exactly to see him. It was to spend time with Viviana, and get her to meet more of Aly's friends. She couldn't bring herself to even pretend she actually cared about the jerk that pushes students around in the halls.
Spring had arrived weeks ago. Tonight, as the sun set on the field, Aly walked towards the bleachers with Viviana at her side. Aly was in a pair of ripped light high waisted jeans, that clung to her thick thighs and curves tightly, coupled with a white and red cropped baseball tee and low-cut white converse. Her dark brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail. Viviana was clad in a navy blue tee shirt dress with short white gladiator sandals. Her long, blonde hair cascaded down her back, perfectly straight.
"How come every time I come to your school people stare at us?" Viviana questioned, looking to her cousin.
"Because we're hot," Aly smirked. "What do you expect?"
Viviana shook her head, a small smile forming on her face. The two stuck by each other, holding on to one another when passing through large crowds. For some reason, track and field was just as big and important to school as football.
"Hey, look who's here!" a tall boy with dark skin cheered as the two approached the group of people huddled around a table.
"Hey, Peter," Aly grinned, stretching her arms out for a hug. "This is my cousin, Viv. I think you two have met before."
"No, I would have remembered that beautiful face," Peter winked.
"Oh, so original," Viviana rolled her eyes playfully.
Aly chuckled and then introduced Viviana to the rest of group. She had already met some of them before and it was good to see them again. Aly and her friends always guaranteed a great time when you hung out with them. They were nothing like the snobs at her private school.
The track meet was about to start and the group made their way to the bleachers.
"Julian should be saving us a spot at the very top so we can actually sit this year," Peter informed Aly, sounding a tad bitter.
"Hey, we were freshman last year," Aly laughed. "Of course we weren't going to find spots."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
"Hey, guys!" a Hispanic boy with wild curly hair flailed his arms in the air at the very top of the bleachers. "I got us seats!"
When they reached the top, Aly gave Julian a hug and then Viviana. Viviana had met him before and they became quite close. There are jokes and rumors made about them being together, but Aly knew they weren't true. Viviana was still hung up on her childhood neighbor, Hayes.
