Chapter 23: Late Lunch - Pt. 1

"Here. Eat what you will and then I'll take you for a walk down to the Starbucks around the corner." I tell Jakob. 

He's sitting in his high chair in the kitchen eating some kind of toddler snacks happily. He looks up at me while popping some sort of Cheerio looking thing, edible of course, in his mouth. He makes a baby noise and smiles widely, which I take as 'yes'. 

Even though, I'm pretty sure that's just because he was just happy he was eating and not because it was actually like he could understand what I was saying.

"Ok then..." I turn around and go up the steps to my room. I go straight to my phone which is on my dresser and check for any messages. Unfortunately, I had none. I decided to send Niall a message since I haven't talked to my little leprechaun brother lately. 

-Hey Niall! How are you this morning? Hope you slept well? I was wondering what you were doing for lunch? I was gonna take Jake to go to Starbucks and was wondering if you'd like to join? 

It wasn't long I had to wait till I got a reply back.

Sure! I'm not doing anything later on. I'm just chilling in my apartment eating Dorito's and watching Merlin. Boring. I know but I'm bored so what else, right? What time we leaving? 

-Um, I'd say around 12:45? I'll go get you around that time k?

Yeah! Sounds like a plan! :) Time with my sis! Yeah buddy!

I locked my phone and stood from the bed with a big smile on my face. I went back downstairs and made my way back to Jakob. He was still stuffing his face with the Cheerio look alike and had a bit of a dribble going down the right side of his mouth as he chewed on the snack. Difficult for him since he only had about 4 or 5 teeth in. 

"Why you're just a messy little critter aren't you? Look at the mess you made!" I said pointing to the edible objects in which they littered my floor and the top of the high chair. Jake just giggled and screamed, probably satisfied with his work in having to clean his mess.

"All right, have you had enough? You've ate about half the can? Jesus Jake!" I laugh as I wiggle the almost empty can in front of him. "I actually think that's enough for you. Let's get you cleaned up now." I say picking him up and resting him on my hip. I placed the can on the chair and grabbed a napkin to wipe off his mouth.

After I threw that away, I took him into his room to get him some clothes and grab a couple of toys so he could play with them in the bath. I shuffled back out of his room with him and his items in hand and towards the restroom. I sat him on the closed toilet seat and put his stuff on the ground. I ran the bath, making sure to warm it up before I add the Elmo bubbles that he loves. 

I can't lie though, they smell amazing.

I undressed him and put him in his bubble bath heaven and watched as he played around. I heard my phone going off upstairs and freaked a little bit.

How am I going to get it??

"Wi-fi!" I called. It was silent for a second, besides the splashing and peeps coming from Jake as he played, and nothing came from my dog for a couple of seconds before I heard the pitter patter of her paws on the tiled floor then a swoosh indicating she was skidding across the floors as she made her way towards us. She then came into view from the doorway and charged into my lap as I sat on the floor next to the bath. I laughed and rubbed behind her ears and her belly, her favorite spots, before getting up quickly.

"Stay and watch Jake real quick. Ok?" I asked. She looked up at me and barked.

3 months worth of training totally paid off.
