“You can’t use that book,” says my chemistry teacher. “Bring another one for next class, or else, I won’t let you in.” I nod. “Okay,” now she’s talking to my classmates. “For the upcoming class you’re going to bring these activities already done.” And starts writing on the board.

Complete absolute disgust, wrath and deception. That’s what I feel right now. After so long, she tells me that I can’t use it now? Wow.

When I go out, I head towards where I’ll take the bus which is taking me home, where I found my mother. We get in the one that takes the longest road and it gets started after five minutes, until it’s full of people. I watch the trees and I think about how it would feel to be one, without teachers that give you last minute information, providing the world with books. I watch the birds and I think about how it would feel to be as free as they are, with nobody giving you orders.

Once we get to the avenue, we get out and decide to enter the bakery for some bread. In the exit, I meet Ryzelle, her cousin and her cousin’s boyfriend, Ronald. They just got out of their high school, it seems.

“Hey!” I tell her when I see her.

“Hey, glad I see you. I’ve got something to tell you,” she comments while Sophie and Ronald enter the bakery. She takes her phone out and starts pressing the keys. “My mother sent me a message about the last time I went to your apartment.”

“Oh, man,” says my mom, though the only thing she did was to put my thoughts into words.

“It says I’m really glad you have a friend like him, but I think that it’s not convenient that you keep going to his apartment.”

What?

“What?” Asks my mother; again exteriorizes my thoughts.

“Like you just heard,” she makes a pause. “I’m sorry. At least we can still hang out. She didn’t forbid me to see you.” She smiles. “But I think that she’ll tell me we’ll need chaperons.”

“What?” I say. Finally I own what’s on my mind.

“Chaperons, you know, those that-”

“I know what chaperons are!” I sigh. “Well, anyways. We could go to the movies tomorrow?”

“Great!”

My mother and I head home and the next day I go to school, with my new chemistry book so my teacher doesn’t get angry (again).

“Until afternoon,” says my mom after kissing my cheek and hugging me.

I get out of my building and I walk calmly towards the high school in which I just got accepted. I just left everything behind to have sort of a new beginning. Stupid. All for a boy.

Approximately fifty steps from the front door, two slim men my height get down from a motorcycle and tell me to give them my bag. I take it down from my back and I take my new book and my food out. They drive away. They drive away. They drive away. They’re far away. Good. Excellent. I love this.

At noon I grab my food and I heat it up. It seems to be rice and six bits of meat. I sit beside Lauren and start to eat. They try to get me cheered up, failing miserably. Nevertheless, when Ronald, who suddenly enters the classroom, throws suddenly a piece of food (specifically potato) to Lauren, I suddenly get up and start to punch him suddenly. As soon as I sit, satisfied for having hit him (which I’ve always wanted to do), I caught a glance of Reed’s stare and a smile on his lips that shouts go out with me! So I reply with one that shouts whenever you want, angel!

A brunette girl with green eyes (!) enters the room and congratulates me (?) for having defended Lauren.

“This guy, Phil,” she says exactly. Phil? Phil is way more handsome than I am. “Is a good boy,” she finishes. “Even though he’s apathetic,” she adds after looking at me.
