I bid my farewells and made my way back to my car. Luckily I had locked it and taken my keys with me. I got back into the car and drove off to my house.
When I arrived, I got out, locked the car, and walked up the walkway. When I got into the house, I immediately headed upstairs. I walked into the room to find that the children had all gone to their rooms and Lena was the only one left. She was awake, her lunch was gone, and she was reading a book. I looked at my watch quickly. It was already almost 4 o'clock pm.
I closed the door behind me causing her to look away from the book. I walked over and sat on the edge of the bed next to her. I put my arm on the other side of her and went in for a kiss.
"Hello, my Love," I said as I retreated, "how ya feeling?"
"I've felt better," she replied sarcastically.
"I bet...."
"What's wrong?"
"Uhm.. I went and talked to Monte..."
"You did?" She asked putting the book down next to her, "What about?"
"Oh, I just talked to her about why she payed for the hospital bills."
"Well... What did she say?"
"She uh... She said to try and make amends, basically. She told me she knew that it wouldn't fix everything, but she wanted to try and get rid of the awkward tension between us all. She said she felt bad for what she did to Jenna. And us."
"Well that's good, I guess."
"Yeah... And apparently," I said standing up, "she's "in love" with Rebecca Gilbert and that they're very serious about it."
"What? Really?"
"That's what she said."
"I didn't know Rebecca was gay..."
"Me neither..." I said trailing off. I had walked over to the other side of the room and was staring out of the window with my arms crossed.
"Stef... Something else is bothering you... What is it?"
