Chapter 14

Emily's P.O.V

I arrived at the airport and texted Elijah that I landed safely. I walked out of the airport with all my bags to see two people talking into a camera. "Zoe?" They both looked at me. "Joe!" I yelled and ran up to him. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him to death.

"Hey Em." I pulled away and smiled at him. "Say hi to everyone." Joe said and I looked at the camera, then waved.

"Hi guys, I'm back and reunited with my two best friends." I said wrapping my arms around both their necks, bringing them into shot.

"And hopefully we can do a video together?" Zoe asked and I nodded. They both said bye and turned off their cameras. Zoe and I finally hugged and laughed at each other as well.

"Oh my god, I've missed you." Zoe said and hugged me tighter.

"I've missed you too." We pulled away and put my stuff in the car. I got in the back with Joe and noticed Alfie was driving. "Hey Alfie." I said and he looked back at me.

"Hello Emily" Alfie said and I smiled at him.

"Hey, we're going to Zoe's then mine. Alright?" Joe asked me and I nodded.

"Ok, but can we play Cards Against Humanity for your video Zoe?" I asked her and everybody laughed.

"Sure." Zoe said and Alfie started to drive. We reached Zoe's house and I got out of the car along with Joe. I brought my stuff out as well and just left at the front door as we walked in. I put my stuff down and Zoe turned on the light.

"SURPRISE!" I heard a bunch of people yell. I jumped and then looked at the room in front of me. I saw birthday stuff and I started laughing after I had a tiny heart attack. I saw Dan, Phil, Louise, Jack, Finn, Caspar, Tyler, Troye, Joey, Tanya, Jim, Oli, and Marcus. Everybody came up and wished me happy birthday.

We had fun and I got to see everybody again. I walked into the kitchen cause I saw Joe walk in there a few minutes ago. I walked in and smiled at him. He looked at me and smiled as well.

"Hi" I said and walked over to him.

"Hi" Joe said and looked down. He took my hand and looked at my wedding ring. "How Elijah? I thought he would have come with you?" Joe asked and I pulled my hand away. I got a cup out of the cabinet and filled it up with water before turning back to Joe.

"Elijah," he looked up at me. "Is kind of why I'm here." I said and took a sip of water. Joe walked up to me.

"What happened?" Joe asked and I looked down. I closed my eyes and slowly felt tears fall as I thought about Elijah. Joe lifted my head and saw I was crying. He put my water on the counter and took me into his arms, rocking me back and forth.

"I-I d-don't k-know-" Joe cut me off.

"Shh, it's okay. It's okay." He said and I just cried into his chest.

"I keep seeing him, Joe, and it scared me so much. I got on a plane and came to London leaving my daughter and her father with their family problems." I said and Joe rubbed my back.

"Who do you keep seeing?" Joe asked and Zoe came into the room.

"Hey, Em. What's-" Zoe stopped in mid sentence when she saw me crying. "Awe Em." She said and ran up to me.

She hugged me and I saw Joe leave the room. I soon heard the door close and the Joe and Alfie came into the kitchen. I looked at Joe and Alfie.

"Thank you" I mouths to them and they smile at me. Zoe pulls away and looked me in the eye.

"Why are you crying?" She asked me and I waved her over so I could whisper it in her ear.

"I kept seeing my father and I think you and Joe are the only ones that can help show me who I am again." I whisper but she lets in a sharp breath when she hears about my father.

"Zoe?" Alfie asked and she just stared at me.

"You have to tell Joe." Zoe said and I nodded.

"I will but not now." I said and Zoe then pulled Alfie out of the room with her as she left.

"Tell him!" Zoe yelled as they went upstairs. Joe looked at me and pointed at what just happened. I rolled my eyes and Joe walked towards me.

"You never answered my question." Joe said and I looked at him.

"I know." Joe took my hand and we looked down at it. I smiled and all I could think was 'I can trust him.' "My dad." I said and his head snapped up at mine.

"What?" He asked worried about me and i looked at him.

"I keep seeing my father. But when I'm here away from all that crap. I feel like I can actually think without having someone shut me down." I said and Joe still looked shocked of my father.

"When did this start?" He asked and I looked down. I started to tell him everything. When I finished he stayed silent for a while. "So you that's why you wanted to come over?" I nodded. "And you only see him when you look at Elijah. Why?" Joe asked and I grabbed my cup of water again and took a sip.

"The million dollar question." I said and then my phone started to buzz in my pocket. I saw it was Klaus. "It was nice knowing you Joseph." I said and he looked confused. "Just listen." He nodded. I answered the call and put it on speaker.

Klaus: Where the hell are you?!

Emily: Hello to you too.

Klaus: Elijah won't tell me where you are and Aria has no idea. Now where are you?

Emily: One, good I didn't want Elijah to tell you and, two, I'm safe. So stop worrying.

Klaus: You can't just leave like that!

Emily: I didn't! You're just mad cause I didn't tell you! Well, news flash I do what I want and what I need. And what I needed was space to clear my thoughts. But you, you would just dragged me back home or convinced me to stay.

Klaus: For your own protection.

Emily: I'm hanging up now, Klaus.

Klaus: Just come home.

Emily: Why? Can't I just have a few weeks to myself?

Klaus: No.

Emily: Bye Klaus, tell Elijah I made it here safely.

I hung up and looked at Joe. "When I go home, I hope to god Elijah there beside me. If not..." I said and Joe just looked at me in shock.

"You need to come over more often." Joe said and I laughed nodded my head in agreement.

We ended up staying the night at Zoe's. I got ready for bed and saw Joe fast asleep. Zoe made us share a room since she didn't have enough room. I got in bed and laid on my side so my back was facing Joe. I turned off the lamp by my bed side and placed my arm underneath my pillow. A few minutes later a felt an arm wrap around waist.

"Night Em." Joe whispered in my ear before going to sleep.

"Night Joey" I said and he's got tighter on me when I said Joey. I only say 'Night Joey' when I'm scared. I smiled and fell asleep in my best friend's arms.
