The One That Got Away

Chapter One

                                                               The Beach

"Why are we driving through here again?  I told you Steve was away with his parents." Maggie asked me.

"Because that Brian guy is so stinkin cute."  I told her.  It had been about two weeks since Maggie and I had seen Brian.  The guy from Hallow Acres where my cousin Maggie's boyfriend lived.  I just wanted to see him again.  I wasn't seeing anyone and well it was kind of annoying that Maggie had a boyfriend and I didn't.  I was sick of being the third wheel.

My name is Skylar Whitmore, I am eighteen years old and a virgin.  I had been lusting over Brian for long enough.  It was time I did something about it; tonight!

"OMG, are you serious?  He looks like a skater dude."

"Whatever, I'm.....OMG, there he is!"  I screeched.  After seeing him sitting on his front porch I got nervous and flew by him.  I had just gotten my new 2016 Jetta for my graduation and this was only the third time I had driven it.  I went so fast around the bend that I hit the curb.  "How embarrassing!"

"Heeeeeeey! They do have driving instructors out there." I heard someone say.  I looked in my rearview mirror and saw Brian running up behind us in the middle of the street.

Damn he looked good.  All 5'9 of him.  Nice lean six pack, tanned body all over. Blondish brown highlights throughout his hair and no shirt on.  I thought my heart would pop out of my chest.  He was wearing Khaki shorts and Nike Air Jordans and did I mention no shirt? He ran up to the driver side window where I had my hands covering my face and the window up.

He tapped on the window. "Hi Skylar."

I put my window down and looked him dead in the face. "Hey!"

"Are you in a hurry or something?" He asked.

                "No, just....umm...no."

He looked at Maggie and nodded his head. She waved very unenthusiastically.

"So, what are you guys doing tonight?" Brian asked.

"Nothing, just driving around this Godforsaken neighborhood for the eighty thousandth time tonight looking for you." Maggie says.  If looks could kill she'd be dead right now. "What? She asks me smiling.

"Me?  You were looking for me?  Why is that?" Brian asks.

"Okay, damn it!  I wanted to see you okay?"  I tell him as I'm looking into his very dark and mysterious brown puppy dog eyes.

He smiles and I thought I may die twice.  At this point I am so embarrassed and I totally want to punch Maggie in her stupid forhead,   I can hear her snickering next to me.  I reached over slightly to smack her leg.

"Seriously?  Why are you hitting me, you're the one who said, "OMG he is so stinkin' cute.  Now he's right here and you aren't saying a word.  "Brian, my cousin thinks you are the best thing to sliced bread, her peanut butter on her jelly, the bees knees, Samson to her Delilah, ya get my drift?" Says Maggie.
