"You can't love me!" I scream at him, tears streaming down my face and burning in my eyes. "I'm a demon! I'm poison! Do you want to get killed?!" A sob escapes me, and my whole body shakes.
"Stop. You're not a demon. You're not poison. I won't die. " He responds, totally calm.
I take a deep breath and speak quietly. "Do you want me to prove it to you? Do I have to show you how dangerous I am?"
He smiles. "Sure," doubt is layered thick through his words.
I laugh humorously. I must seem insane.
I allow, for a moment, a surge of power to build up in my chest. With a sudden burst of strength and energy I let out a scream. The glass around us shatters, and something explodes.
Fear passes across his face, but it's gone almost before I notice.
"Run. " I whisper. "I told you I'm dangerous. I could kill you. Please, Roland, go. "
He shakes his head. "Aspen, I can't. I love you too much. I'd die without you."
"You're a fool! You'll die with me!"
"That's a price I'm willing to pay. "
