Princess Jezaline sighed, brushing her long, beautiful and soft brown hair. "I don't get why I have to be trapped in my stuffy room," she said.
Her maid was tidying up her room. "It's not called being trapped, darling, it's called being safe," she told her. "We all care about you, Jezzy, and we need to protect you."
Her eyebrows furrowed, "well I don't want to be safe and cared for! I. Don't. Like. It!" She yelled. "But you're the princess, a royal beauty!" The maid calmly replied.
"I don't want to be the princess, May!" She looked at her with sad eyes. "Well, what do you want? You can have anything you want, because you're the princess!" She sighed.
"I want to be free," she said with her eyes welling up with tears, "free like the other girls! Like, like the three princesses from the movie Mulan II!" "Nonsense! This is no Mulan movie! Unlike real life, those three girls had a mentor who taught them to disobey!" May shouted at Jezaline.
Jezaline looked out her window, watching the birds fly and the wind blowing the trees. "Go away, May. Be lucky I don't shove you out of the castle." She hissed.
The maid hurried, frightened. Jezaline sighed and shut the door, deciding to sit and keep brushing her hair as she started to sing.
"Some day, maybe not today, I'll see how it is to be like the other girls, trying to get dirty and chasing squirrels...
Oh maybe I'll know what it's like, to maybe even ride a bike, to run around, not to be castle bound...
I wanna know, what it's like to fire a bow, to walk around the outdoors, to not have someone do my chores...
I want to be free, just me, not to be held back, because I don't want to run the royal track!
If a princess is who I must be, I don't want to be a part of this family tree, I want to go and explore, I know my life is not meant to be trapped behind a door!
I want to be out there... Without a single care... Because all I want to do... Is to be and find something new..."
She stopped brushing her hair and dreamily looked out her window with longing eyes, seeing that it was now night time. She watched as a bat flew around under the moon's beautiful light.
"Oh, how lucky that bat is... Free without having to be stuck in one place the whole time," she pouted and crossed her arms, "if only I could just escape this place, and do what I want," she told herself.
Princess Jezaline took off her crown and rubbed her right gloved hands thumb over the Sapphire gem that was embroidered in it. She gently placed it on the nightstand beside her bed, careful not to knock over her porcelain dolls that her grandma gave her for her birthday at the age of eight.
She took one last glance out her window, and then she got the most craziest idea ever. She would run away, far away from this prison of a castle, be a wild child and live out her dreams. Problem is, where will she go? Who would take her in? How was she going to eat?
She didn't know the answers to those questions, but before she could even start thinking about the answers she was already getting her stuff ready. She didn't know what would happen to her, but she didn't care, the only thing she did care about was being free at last.
Jezaline was excited, her heart was racing with adrenaline. She was ready, more ready than she ever felt before! She could not wait to go out and explore. Maybe, just maybe, she might actually be able to make a friend or two for once.
She stuffed her suitcase with the gowns that she never wore as they looked nothing like the pretty and royal gowns she usually wore. She grabbed her makeup kit just in case of an emergency where she had to disguise herself, and a few of her porcelain dolls wrapped up in cotton. The cotton reminded her of her sewing kit, so she grabbed a different suitcase for that. Her brush was put into the original case, along with some of her fancy and non-fancy shoes.
She was done packing everything, checking her watch to see what time it was. It was 4:28㏂, her parents will wake up in a hour and two minutes which will be at 5:30㏂, but the maids will wake up in thirty two minutes at 5:00㏂ on the dot, so she needs to hurry and get the hell out of there.
She turned the knob to her door and started quietly walking down the stairs that went up to everyone's rooms, the kitchen, living room, dining room and the other rooms were downstairs.
Jezaline's heart was still racing, as she wanted nothing to do with this place anymore. She thought about her older sister, who didn't care much about her if she left. Princess Rosa, the favorite one of the princesses, she was always cared for more than Jezzy.
She huffed, shaking her thoughts out of her mind as she turned the knob to the outside of the castle. She stepped out, feeling the air blow on her face. Once she was completely out, she quietly shut the door, and bolted to the village where no one would pay attention to the new girl. Of course, she'll get suspicious glances because everyone knows each other and she's going to be asked and told the same question; "You're not from here, are you?", or "Where did you come from?" and her reply was going to be that she didn't like her old village so she ran away to this one.
She had some red flags in her head about this, but she's not going to let that stop her.
Today, she is here on out known as The Free Princess.
