Joe came as fast as he could, Barry sat staring at the golden orb as if it was a treasure. To Barry Allen it was, the last piece of Caitlin Snow was alive growing. Not just the last piece of her it was it was his too.
A baby.
"Barry!"
"In here!" He yelled toward Joe. Joe worried, held his gun up. It was the fourth time he'd seen Barry since the sentence of Cisco. The first time was Barry's first time getting drunk.
"Thirty bottles of vodka!" Joe yelled "how can anyone drink that much?"
"I can!" Barry laughed, drunk, like a pig. Joe dragged Barry out of the bar, which wasn't really Barry's scenery. He was surprised that he was even here. Everyone looked at Joe and Barry.
"No!" Barry protested. Barry pushed Joe from his body. "Leave me alone!"
The second time was the worst, behind bars, thank god not at the same precinct as his own, but in jail. "Assault. He almost killed a man, I don't how he did it, the force of trauma-- the man is lucky to be even breathing."
The third time was the loss of faith, it was raining, both Barry and Joe heard thunder that day. Barry stood on top of the police precinct, staring to the sky, he was wet, waiting, "COME ON, HIT ME! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!"
"Joe is he drunk?" Captain Singh asked,
"To tell you the truth I don't know anymore." Joe replied. Panicking not knowing if Barry was actually going to jump.
"I DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE!" Barry poured vodka in his mouth. "THE FLASH IS DEAD!"
Barry saw a patch thoroughly the clouds. "Please."
"Barry?" Iris came through the door, she came closer toward him, "This isn't the way to bring her back. You can't do that." Iris told him, "would Caitlin want you to do this?"
"You don't know how I feel--"
"Yes I do. You're hollowed out inside, dead. But Barry you have me, my Dad, Wally. Please, don't do this. When Eddy died I thought I was alone, but you were there for me.
And another gulp of vodka. And he dropped the bottle. Iris ran toward him, as he fell to his knees, she hugged him"I-I don't know how to survive without her." He cried. His eyes were red, dark circles appeared under them. She smelled tough vodka.
"Joe. It's a baby." Barry smiled, "my baby."
"How is this this possible." Joe entered the dark room, which Barry sat on the floor, he put the gun in his holster.
Barry looked at the small ball. It's an artificial womb.
Joe was silent, confused with all the sciencey stuff. He didn't question it, he finally saw Barry smile again, he kneeled down, looking at the veiny red apple looking baby inside the ever growing womb.•••••••
TWO DAYS LATER.
Joe saw a crunched up paper by Barry he snuck out early to see the baby. Not that Joe restricted him to. Barry saw the doubt on Joe's face, of baby. He read the letter, twice, it Caitlin's handwriting, he knew anywhere.
What was it then? What made Joe feel so-- so nervous, curious? No.
Determined.
But to do what?
The 'thing' in there, in this ball, was a baby, it couldn't do any harm.
Barry was crouched next to the bright yellow clear ball. His knees, up to his chest, sleeping. "Barry." Joe tried to wake him up "Barry!" Joe poked his face.
"What?" He woke, straddling his hand fighting Joe.
"Work."
Joe crossed his arms. He smiled something different he hasn't smelling in a long time from Barry's mouth.
Peppermint.
He'd always smelled tough vodka, maybe sweet liquor. Today he smelled peppermint. And a cologne that Barry used to wear. Is wearing.
Joe wasn't very good with his tenses. Barry was holding the ball with his body almost protecting it."Damn." Joe said. Joe knew to call.

Joe went to station, looking through his drawer looking for a card. "Gottcha." he called, "Hello? can we meet? The docks. Seven o'clock. Thanks."
