Josh awoke the next morning with his heart pounding against his chest. He was going to be nervous that whole day and was scared he was going to mess up the interview. His mocha eyes darted to see Kate was asleep on his chest, drool tickling the corner of her cheek and her hair thrown all around the place. He softly rocked her back and forth to wake her up, she gave out a grunt as she rolled onto her back. She slowly opened her eyes and sat up, for once she didn't have eye bags and didn't have a sore throat.
"Today's the big day." He said grinning as he shook her awake, he was glad he was back in Ohio and was excited to propose to Kate here. Kate rubbed her eyes and grinned, she slept In her contacts again, he could tell. "So we're allowed to come, right?" She asked, she wanted to double-check, she didn't want to show up to end being kicked out. Josh tried to not seem too forceful but he nodded his head calmly. "If they kick you out I'll join you." He said flashing a grin, he couldn't believe it was going to happen.
It was rather complex to ask her dad, he questioned him a lot and even quizzed him on his own girlfriend. It was as if they didn't date for a decade, and it was only for a year. They still didn't approve of Josh as much as he would like them too, but he was glad her father at least was going to let her take his daughter's hand in marriage. On that topic, a familiar ding could be heard from the dresser. He rolled over to quickly grab his phone before Kate got to it, he raised his eyebrows to see that it was from her father.
'Good luck today, I'm sure she'll say yes.'
A small grin appeared on his face. "What's making you so happy?" She asked, rolling onto his chest. Josh quickly changed his phone screen to a meme that Tyler sent him earlier. "Oh uh just this... Meme." He said showing her his phone screen. "Ahh." She said flashing a small smile. "We should get ready, it's at 11 and its 10." He said softly shoving her off of him. He wanted to dress to impress and not have too worry about being made fun of on this important day for him.
Josh walked out wearing some dress pants with a white shirt tucked in, wearing a black blazer that seemed to compliment his hair color. Kate walked out wearing a small black sundress with a white cardigan, her hair down and straightened. "Are you sure we should dress this fancy?" She asked while brushing off some dust off her dress. Josh nodded his head as he laced up his black pair of vans, he hoped Tyler and Gabby would dress up nice, since that would probably make Kate become suspicious. "Even if it isn't, you'll still look beautiful." He added as he stood up. He then hooked his arm for her to grab it, a small smile on her face as she hooked her arm with his. They then walked over to Gabby and Tyler's room that was separated by a door in the middle of both of their rooms, Kate secretly hoping that Gabby and Tyler were dressed nicely too since if it was just her and Josh she'd probably feel extremely uncomfortable.
As they opened the door they saw Tyler standing right in front of them while smiling. "Today's the big interview!" He said clapping his hands together, he was wearing basically the same thing as Josh but with vibrant red socks. Gabby walked out of the bathroom while adjusting her glasses, she was wearing a sleeveless red dress that matched Tyler's socks, her bangs pulled to the back. She had a smile on her face as well and exchanged looks with Josh. Kate was rather confused but she just went with it.
🌃Josh was fairly nervous as they got closer to the destination. His palms were sweaty and his heart didn't feel like slowing down from its extreme heart race. As they finally arrived Kate raised an eyebrow as she looked out the window. "Why are we at Vinoklet Winery?" She asked pressing her palms against the window. Josh bit his lip and tried to quickly think of something that was believable. "The radio wanted to do it in a more natural setting. Not the first time though." He said shrugging his shoulders.
As they hopped out of the car, Josh felt like he was about to throw up when he realized it was almost time. "Hey why don't we go over there." He said pointing to an open area by the heart shaped lake. There were fountains shooting out from where they were heading too, there was also a lake and vineyards that made it rather romantic and made him fairly satisfied. He held her hand as they walked down the hill, his vibrant pink hair was flailing in the wind as he tried to keep it from messing up. He could feel the engagement ring in his pocket as it seemed to dig deeper into his skin.
"Where are the reporters?"
The brunette questioned, she was looking around in the spot they arrived and even pulled him towards away. "Wait wait." Josh said pulling her back to the center. Kate was fairly confused now and millions of thoughts were racing through her mind as she tried to get a grasp on what was going on. Where are the reporters? Where are the seats that they usually sit on? Where are the microphones? Her head began to hurt as she felt everyone staring at them.
"Hey hey, Look at me."
She heard Josh's calming voice and snapped out her loud thoughts. She felt his hand on hers as he went on one knee, she could feel her heart raise up into her throat.
"What are you doing?" She asked, a smile on her lips as she gave out a nervous chuckle. She was hoping it was what she thought it was.
"Kate, I've known your for so many years now. We've been through so much and you've supported me through my musical journey and you've even left everyone in Florida for me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, no joke. Now here's my interview question; Will you make me the happiest guy alive and marry me?"
Kate began to cry as she saw the ring and how happy Josh was. She couldn't help but let the tears loose as she nodded her head fast.
"Yes yes yes!"
She yelled as Josh slipped the ring on, she was unexplainably happy and couldn't put it into words. She pulled him into a hug and repeatedly planted kisses all over his face.
