Jackie.
Silence filled the room once more. Both Jackie and Ross sat on his couch staring at the bottle of wine he had opened earlier. Ross insisted on Jackie staying over since he felt like a burden at her place.
Jackie kept her legs on the couch trying to feel comfortable. She remembered Ross walking away down the hall earlier, she wanted to talk about it to him, but wasn't sure how. So they sat in silence after hours of talking.
Ross shifted in his seat wanting to speak up as well, but also lacking a topic for a conversation.
"So...you really quit." Jackie spoke up running her finger along the rim of the glass and looking straight ahead with wide eyes.
Ross nodded, "Yeah, yes. I did." He took a sip of his drink and kept it in his hand.
"Why?" Jackie put the clear cup onto the coffee table and sat facing Ross to see his expression, "You've been in the band for the longest time. Why did you quit all of a sudden?"
"I was tired of Matty just using girls a majority of the time, you're also my friend. I can't watch you just be emotionally disrupted." Ross smiled at Jackie, they were friends after all. They're there for each other.
"Oh." Jackie said, then silence fell again besides the cars passing by on the street. Jackie took a sip of her drink again feeling the wine doing nothing for her dry throat.
"I-" Ross's phone rang when he started talking. He grabbed it glancing at it then debating with himself if he should answer. He swiped the screen then pressed it against his ear and stared directly at Jackie.
Jackie sat their looking back at him too, hearing the shouts from the phone or fast talking. Jackie watched as he put his phone on the table and left it on speaker.
Matty was speaking so fast and slurred begging Ross to come back. "It's not the same without you. We had someone else..." Jackie stopped listening.
"What are you going to do?" She said hugging her knees, and watching Ross just look down at his phone and tapping his finger against his knee.
"Is that...Jackie?!" Matty spoke loudly. There was a thud on the other line, like someone had bumped into a wall, "Let me talk to her!" His voice cracked.
Ross reached for the phone about to speak up, "I'll join, only if..." He turned to Jackie, wondering if she'll say anything. He took it off of speaker and walked over to another room closing the door.
Jackie poured herself more to drink, wondering what Ross could be telling Matty. She could hear his voice on the other side. It was...calming. She always liked his voice.

An hour had passed and Ross was still in the other room on the phone. Jackie was now buzzed, maybe Ross had fallen asleep. Yeah. Jackie laid down on the couch resting her head on her arm and closing her eyes. She'd do the same.
The door from the room opened and Ross walked out then looked at Jackie who was laying down, "Are you awake?" He looked at the three bottles he shuffled his feet to Jackie.
"I'm awake." She giggled sitting up, "You left me alone." Jackie frowned crossing her arms and pouting at Ross.
"Oh, sorry. I was just discussing...business, are you okay?" Ross sat close to Jackie trying to examine her, "Did you drink the three bottles of wine?"
She shook her head slowly waving her hand, "No no, I put half of one in another bottle because the...the other four were half full." Jackie smiled.
"I only had three out." Ross looked around.
"I found the other two in the cabinet." Jackie reached her hand to Ross's face, holding it in her hands.
Ross stood up and scooped Jackie easily into his arms, "I'm taking you to bed." He walked over into his room down the hall.
"Okay, only if you lay down with me." Jackie giggled again poking the tip of Ross's nose.
He set her softly down on his bed. Jackie tried grabbing his arm missing the first time then yanking him down onto the bed with her. "Tell me something." She said moving back for Ross to lay down right.
"Like what?" Ross said laying on his side to look at Jackie.
"Maybe something about Matty..."She yawned feeling exhausted for some reason. She looked at Ross who just stared at her.
"He never loved his ex." Ross said before Jackie became distracted.
"I like your hands." Jackie said grabbing his hand and intertwining hers then pressing their hands against her face. She could smell the soft scent of the bathroom soap from his hands.
"Maybe you should go to sleep." Ross suggested, letting go of her hand. Jackie went close to Ross's face. She ran her fingers softly through his hair.
"Ross...?" She whispered, her eyes scanning his. Ross knew exactly what she was saying without her saying it. He just stared at her. The feeling of her fingers through his hair was relaxing.
He wanted her yes, but in no way sexual or romantic. It was a need to care for someone to protect them, they both knew that, they had spoken about it to each other.
Ross just looked at her waiting for her to do something, he wasn't going to influence her intoxicated mind. If she did anything it would be because she wanted to.
She ran her finger tips down the side of his face letting his prickly beard tickle them, "Ross, can we?" She was asking for permission now.
Ross grabbed the hand that was on his face, "Yes, but I don't won't want you to regret anything, okay?" Jackie nodded putting both of her hands to hold his face.
Jackie leaned in to press her forehead against Ross's. She slid her thumbs along his eyebrows. She studied his face looking down at his lips and sliding her thumb down it too.
She pressed her lips against his. Slowly at first, but then they started making out with their hands running over each other's bodies.
The thing people do when they're in love, but others do just for fun. Sex, sex, sex.
