(Chapter 15)

(Clarissa’s POV)

“Mark?” My voice cracked.

“Hey. I’m guessing you saw the video.”

“Yea, I did.”

“What did you think?” I could just picture the hopeful smile on his face.

“It was… sweet.”

“But?”

“You can’t just expect me to run back to you and pretend like nothing happened.”

“Why not?!” His voice rose.

“I can’t forget the past! “ I screamed.

“We were great together!”

“No we weren’t! Our relationship wasn’t even a relationship. We barely talked and it was very awkward!” I heard a stifled laugh from behind me, but I chose to ignore it.

“We were foolish then.” He tried to reason. “Can we have one more chance?”

“I don’t think we were able to change from foolish to now in four months.”

“You’ve changed.”

“I guess I have. Then I would’ve been crawling back, but now I don’t need you anymore. I’ve matured since I left Texas and you’re still an immature boy fawning over a girl who clearly doesn’t like you that way anymore,”

“Do you mean that?” By his tone, you could tell his face showed hopelessness and his heart was breaking.

“Every word.”

(Louis’ POV)

The rest of the boys and me huddled by the door frame. We listened to Clarissa’s phone conversation, chuckling at some of her phrases. Some of the conversation was a little confusing, but then again, we only heard her side. She ends the call with a sigh of relief and starts to walk back. Waving my hand back and forth like a soldier in battle I move the guys back.

“Abort mission! Abort!” I whisper-yell.

“I know you guys were listening.”

“Not completely.” Calum defends us. She crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow at him. “We didn’t hear the other side of the conversation.”

“Believe me, you really didn’t want to. I barely did.”

“Are you ok?” Harry asks her.

“Just peachy.” She says sarcastically. “But seriously, that was the most dreadful conversation.”

“What’d he want?”

“He wanted to get back together,” I feel myself tense. “But I told him no.”

“Was he a jerk?” I found myself asking.

“Nope, he was actually one of my best friends. It just didn’t work out and we stopped talking.” A lost look formed on her face until Zayn coughed, snapping her out of it. “Um, so when do we leave for tour?”

“Tomorrow is our kick off concert then we’ll start traveling. We’ll be going to our hometowns first.” Liam informed.

“When are we going to Cheshire?”

“A week.”

“Exactly a week?” Liam nodded at her question. “Harry! We’ll be in Cheshire for our birthday!”

“Oh my god, you’re right! You’ll meet mum, dad, and Gemma.”

“Wait meet?” Luke questioned with a puzzled expression.

“They were separated as kids and they just re-found each other.” I whispered to him before letting my eyesight travel back to the gorgeous girl in my presence.

(Clarissa’s POV)

“Wait, there’s a concert tomorrow and we haven’t rehearsed?” I asked.

“We rehearsals in a hour actually.”

“And you didn’t tell me?! I have to get dressed!” I jumped up as quickly as I could before rushing off to my room, the boys laughter following. I quickly get out of my hobo looking attire, then pick out an off-the-shoulder sweater and a high-waisted pleather skirt that ended about mid-thigh. I took my hair out its’ messy bun and let it fall down my back. After shaking it out a few times I started putting on makeup. I swiped a limited amount of mascara on my lashes before adding a coat of lip balm. When I was satisfied I left my room and sashayed barefoot back into the living room. A roar of whistles erupts as I stepped in.

“Why don’t you look fabulouis?” Louis smiles. I curtsey slightly.

“Why thank you.” I giggle for a reason I wasn’t even sure of. “Have you guys seen my boots?”

“What do they look like?” Niall asked.

“Black ankle boots with a short heel.”

“They’re by the kitchen counter.”

“Thanks!” I started to the kitchen and knelt down when I got by the counter. As I stood back up I heard the footsteps coming closer.

“Hey.” Zayn’s voice rang out.

“Hi.” I said back as I slipped on my shoes. “What’s up?”

“You giggled at him.”

“So what?”

“You’ve never giggled around us. You’ve laughed, but not giggled.” Zayn had a smug smile on his face.

“Oh shut it.” I muttered as my cheeks flamed. He laughed at me response.

“Are you gonna tell him?” He asked as he sobered up.

“Nope, I’ve already ruined a friendship with a relationship. I’m not gonna ruin another. This silly crush will go away soon and everything will be fine.”

“And what if this crush turns into something more?”

“Like love? It won’t happen. I won’t let it.”

“What if he feels the same though?”

“What if he doesn’t or what if we both go through with a relationship and we have a bad breakup?”

“What if you guys end up married with kids?” I open my mouth to retort again, but I come back speechless. “Don’t have an answer?”

“Damn you!” I turn away and cross my arms in frustration.

“Wow that tattoo came out good!” I stay silent. “Come on you can’t just ignore me. You’ll have to explain to the boys why.”

“Ugh, I hate you!” I turn back just in time to see him smile smugly.

“No you don’t.”

“Grrr.” I throw my hands up and exit the kitchen.

“Are you ready to go?” Liam asks.

“Yeah I am. How are we splitting the cars?”

“One Direction in one van, 5 Seconds of Summer and you in the other.” Harry tells me and I see Louis tense slightly.

“Great.” I give a tight-lipped smile and twirl away to the door. When I hear no footsteps I look over my shoulder. “You guys coming?” Immediately they all hop up and follow me out the door.
