Wherever she walked imagination followed. Wherever she stepped color burst out of the ground. People followed her, in hopes of obtaining some of the spirit that followed her closely. Everyone knew her name and what she has done and is doing. But no one knows how it all began or how she feels now.
"I'm the worst painter in the world!" Taylor pouted.
"Yeah right," Raelynn replied, " No one is a better painter than you."
"Except for you!" She said back.
Raelynn rolled her eyes and got up, walked to a table and got blue and yellow tubes of paint and two brushes. "I can't believe the Art Exhibit is in two days!" Taylor yelled enthusiastically. "Me too." Raelynn said.In math..
"Get out your geometry textbooks." The teacher shouted.
"Raelynn, now is not the time for drawing, please get your textbook out. You may doodle when class is over," The teacher stated.
Raelynn put the drawing away, discouraged. She continued through the class, only able to think of what details she would add to her art later.
"Lunch." The teacher yelled.
Raelynn didn't jump up, or try to be the first into the cafeteria. Instead she picked up her lunchbox, sketchbook, and pencils, and made her way to the art room. The art room was where she spent the majority of her time at school. She sat down at an empty table and started to draw, leading her pencil this way and that. When she was done, she got out watermelon slices- her favorite food. She noticed someone else walk into the room, someone she had never seen or met before. "Alice, good morning!" Mrs. Grants, the art teacher, said happily. "Raelynn, I would like you to meet Alice, our new advanced art student. She just moved here from West Virginia. Do you think you could show her around the school?"
"Of course, I'd love to," Raelynn said. Alice walked to Raelynn and asked where they would go first. "I'll show you where the cafeteria, library, and front office are." She replied. They walked around, making small talk, when Alice finally said, " When is the Art Exhibit? I have a few pieces I'd like to enter."
"It's in two days, they might still be taking entries but I'm not completely sure. Let's go ask Mrs. Grants ." Raelynn suggested. They walked back to the art room to ask Mrs. Grants about the art show.
"I'm sorry, they're not accepting any more entries." Mrs. Grants said sadly.
"What about if you take one of my pieces out and switch it with hers?" Raelynn asked.
"I'm not sure if I can, but if you insist, I'll try." Mrs. Grants replied.
Raelynn shook her head to say yes with a smile.
Alice turned to her and smiled , "Thanks." She said.
"No problem, really." She stated.
