"Amethyst! Your mother and I have some bad news and good news." My father spoke very urgently with a strange silent way. I noticed his tall slim, first class suited body stiff and uncomfortable. Mother looked very worried and the way she clings to her husband, gave me an idea that what they will tell me will change my life and me. Which, I know within my chest that I am going to be hit with the world's oldest trick.
As my heart started to pound like thunder, I asked, "What is it?"
"Well, if you sit down it will help you to catch yourself before accepting the offer," My father tried to calm me down, knowing my emotional issues. I sat down and they came in and sat beside me, with their eyes staring into my soul. He said, "Well, Remember the day you came in and you saw strange people in my Office?"
I replied, "Um...Yeah! Why?"
"Well, Sweetie, they have a package that was mixed with our orders to Russia and that they couldn't obtain it. So, they think that we are stealing from them and they want their stole goods paid in full. As of last month our sales for Amethyst's Treasure shop has been slow, due to the inconvenient mishap that happened to their package. If you hadn't come in the shop, they wouldn't think of this ridiculous idea." My dad explained. Trying to not sound very nervous but he is hiding something he doesn't want to reveal to me. Yet, I have only seen this kind of look my dad has, when he was accused of cheating on my mom a couple of years ago. He stopped but it seemed to remind of it.
I looked to my mom on my left side and she was trying to ignore our eye contact. So, I was getting irritated and annoyed that I turned to my dad to please reveal his big secret. I told him, "You keep saying them dad...who is them? And what is this ridiculous idea that they suggested that seemed to include me in your Business affairs?"
My dad couldn't answer; I mean he seemed to have the affect of throwing up trying to answer me. But I was already irritated now I am getting to the point that I am mad. So, I stood up out of protest and folded my arms and gave my dad the most demanding look ever. I feel guilty for doing that, but I cannot wait for this secret to reveal itself to me, so, that my dad can rest from all this stress.
After like forever he finally stopped ignoring my eyes and looked up as he decided to stand up. Even though he looked like a total giant. He took my arms into his hands and I could've sworn that I felt his burden, and pain travel from his body to mine, to make him seem small and tiny. He said, "They are friends of the Russian Mafia, they have family members that are married into Mafia, so their ties with the gang is pretty close. And their package is smuggled goods into Russia without a hassle, but they said they have noticed that we had the same package from the outside, but the inside is different. I don't know if you seen an older man with a bald head sitting down, and on his side was a somewhat young man with black hair on the side. Well, he suggested t-that you t-two would marry and forget about the whole thing of owing them a quarter million dollars of goods."
I couldn't believe my ears. What an idea! I can't believe that they would thought that I Amethyst, future owner of Amethyst's Treasures, Europe and Asia's top 10's best Fashion and Jewelry shop is being pressured to marry a criminal. The hell do they think who I am? Some sad girl who will accept such threats...No! I can't marry this guy; he could rape me or beat me to death!
"The Hell Dad, what did you say to them? How old is he?" I half-screamed because I still don't want to yell at my dad, it wasn't his fault it was the shipping system's fault.
He returned my scream with a face of being lost and not having any clue to react to my outrage. He told me, "I said that I have to at least come and tell you. I asked them what If you said no. And they told me that they will kill us all or take away the business from us, to replace the quarter million dollars the shipping system screwed up. And you have a couple of week to say yes, so he can have the necessary plans to stay longer until the wedding."
