A bone shaking, finger twisting chill filled the air as gunshots rang in the distance. They were chasing me and I knew it. Along the roofs I ran trying not to think about what will happen when there are no more houses nowhere else to escape to. I was a cowed I didn't want to leave Poland with the rest of my family, now they had gone I was a rugged homeless street girl, stealing food from the Nazis. Why didn't I escape at first chance, why didn't I go to New Zealand with my parents and my younger sister Brianna. Oh how I wished I could feel the warmth of her hug wrapping round my body right now. "Stop daydreaming Maddie, the Nazis are chasing you they are nearly in shooting distance".
Nowhere to run nowhere to hide. The roof had finished all I could do now is jump off and fall to my death painfully, or get shot by the Nazis. Suddenly a hand shot up the nearest chimney and pulled me down inside there house. That's when I saw the face. . .
