I turned on my stereo and the first thing I hear is the song that pretty much defines my life so far. Into the Ocean by Blue October. As the chorus came on, I couldn't help but sing.
"I wanna swim away but don't know how,
Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean
Let the waves just take me down
Let the hurricane set in motion now
Let the rain of what I feel right now come down
Let the rain come down..."
But I guess every perfect moment has to come to an end.
"Hey Annabella! You ready yet?" Yelled my friend Chloe from the bottom of the stairs. I got up and walked over to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.
Today I was wearing a black t-shirt with a chibi version of the Black Eyed Peas on it, along with a pair of really dark blue skinny jeans and my all black, knee-high converse sneakers. But over all that I had my favorite black, baggy skater jacket.I quickly grabbed my backpack and got finished getting ready. Along with brushing my waist length, dark brown hair which was being a pain to get a brush through right now. Seriously, it felt like my wrist was about to snap.
But it was worth it, my hair was unique as my mother always told me. My hair had tons of neon red natural highlights. I know it's kind of odd, and I never figured out why or at least how I have them, but at least they're awesome looking!
I ran down the stairs and out the front door just in time to hear Chloe yell at me again.
"Let's go! We're gonna be late again!" Chloe screamed. And as you can plainly see, Chloe is someone who doesn't like to be late.... ever. The last person who made her late w-....... actually.... we don't know what happened to him. Some people say he moved, but WE KNOW BETTER! As she started driving I thought of an idea!
"HOLY RED CHILI SAUCE! CHLOE! STOP THE CAR!" I screamed at her.
She ignored me and continued to look extremely unamused.
"I forgot something really important!"
"And what would that be?" She mumbled seeming extremely tired.
"I forgot my backpack! It had all my homework in it!" I knew she would feel pity on me and take me back home to get it, and when she was least expecting it, I would pass out on my bed again and enjoy a long nap.
"Your backpack is in your lap Anna." She sighed, annoyed.
Well that back fired.....
"Well I forgot my phone too!" I said trying to come up with ways to get her to take me home.
"Oh come on! It's not like you'll die without it today!" Chloe sounded a bit angry now
"HOGWASH!" I screamed, probably scaring a couple of polar bears in Antarctica.
That made us both crack up laughing for absolutely no reason. I sat laughing for another three minutes or so then sat back and turned on the radio.
I took this time to see what Chloe was wearing today. It looked like she was wearing a gray t-shirt with the words Invader Zim written across it in cursive. She also had on the black skinny jeans I gave her for her birthday, along with some black and white, ankle cut, converse and her navy blue jacket.
The best thing about Chloe is that she's always there for me. Chloe and I have been best friends since forever. And in 6th grade, she even got a clip-in, neon purple hair strip to match my strange hair because people called me a freak and teased me. And she wears it everywhere we go ever since the day she got it, and she's even wearing it now. But at least it matches her black hair that has grown down to the middle of her back.
"Okie Dokie! We're here!" I heard Chloe yell over the radio which was now playing In Bloom by Nirvana.
"But Chloe! Nirvana just started playing! We have to stay now!" I was practically pouting now, which I don't do often.
"Don't make me pull you out of this car Anna! You know I will! I have before!" Chloe threatened, reminding me of the tug-of-war match we had earlier this school year.
"Chloe! I'm tired and I look like hell!" I whined. But Chloe wasn't going to let me of the hook that easily.
"First of all, POTTY MOUTH! Second of all, you have to!" Chloe was going totally overboard with this 'make sure I don't curse' thing.
"Hell isn't a bad word Chloe." I stated flatly. I had given Chloe two jobs when I told her my big secret.
1) To make sure I don't blow things up when the clique of snobs are near them
2) To stop me from cursing
The first one is for my secret, the secret is that all my life I've had these sort of "powers" as me and Chloe call them, along with the fact that I have ginormous angel wings that I have to hide by completely retracting into my back until they disappear, which by the way sucks cause it hurts a bit at first.
The second one... well let's just say me and a certain mean girl menace, Sarah Riverston, are known for getting into verbal fights often, no matter how small, which I always win and have the last laugh in.
"Come on we're gonna be late!" Chloe said, getting upset over the most unimportant things again.
"No but seriously Chloe, hell isn't a bad word." I honestly don't know how it could be a bad word.
"Yes it is. End of story. Now hurry up!" Chloe snarled as we walked into the building.
I don't know what she was worried about, we weren't the only ones in the hall. Half our grade was still in the halls. But I didn't bother with it, I just walked over to our lockers with her and undid the lock on mine. She stood and waited since she got her stuff from home, where I on the other hand keep everything in my locker.
I turned to Chloe to see her glaring at something behind me.
"Chloe what's wrong?"
She turned to me and gestured with her head to the front doors of the school. I turned around and just hoped it wasn't something else I had to regret waking up for.
