I wake up from the anaesthetic and every around me is a basic, boring white colour. The recovery rooms. It is the most boring place in the hospital and there is nothing but people Aasking how are you doing and looking over you to see if you awake or not. "Miss Andrews, how are you feeling? You've been out for a while." A nurse says while getting a stethoscope.

I rub my hands together and realise there's a small pain in my throat, remembering Dr Lewis sent a camera down it. "I feel some small pain in my throat but its getting better I guess. What happened in there did you find anything" I ask while poking my sore throat with my finger. I kind of relives pain

"That's not my place ma'am, that's you doctors" The nurse says softly and walks away with a small amount of sass.

"I'm not ma'am, I'm only seventeen" I yell across the recovery rooms. She lets a little laugh out and smiles.

Next to me there's a little girl, she wakes up a little shaky and she has light brown hair stubbled on her scalp and a scared little face. "Where am I, I last remember going to sleep around all these doctors and they said to count to ten?" she mutters in a scared tone.

"You're in the recovery rooms. What's your name? I'm Madeline Andrews"

"My names Gwen Arthurs, where's my brother he was meant to meet me when I was done" she sobs while she fiddles with her hospital gown.

Arthurs, where I have I heard that name? LANE! Lane Arthurs! The guy I met in the waiting room. That's his sister, the one with the lung cancer, who went for the bronchoscopy. He's the one who asked me about my bucket list, my death list. That's his sister, or another girl who coincidentally has the same last name and a brother.

"Is your brother Lane?' I ask the girl while turning my head which consequently hurts my throat.

"Yes, do you know him? Do you go to school with him or something?" she asks really happily, she slowly forms a small smile.

I smile, "Yes, I met him while I was waiting for my ultrasound. He seemed nice, is he a good brother?"

She smiles, "Yes, he usually is. When will he get here?"

"He'll be here soon I promise. Just need the nurses to give him clearance to see you" I reply.

A few fair minutes pass and then Lane comes in with a nurse in pink scrubs. Lane's hair glows in the light of the recovery room and he seems so much taller standing up. "Gwen, here's your brother. Do you have any parents?" the nurse asks.

"Yes, but they had to have a break for a short period" Lane replies his voice replies going up a few decibels, showing his happiness.

I turn around onto my other side, acting like I heard nothing and I wasn't staring. I play with my fingers and look at the roof which seems to be less plain and boring than the walls. "Maddi? That you?" asks lane.

I turn my head and it hurts my throat, the pain shoots up from the lower neck to my head. "Oh. Hey, didn't see you there" I exclaim in pain.

Gwen giggles and stares at us. "What Gwen?" Lane says with his face so confused and twisted.

Gwen points and laughs at us, I sit there and smile and Lane pulls a chair from the plain walls and wedges himself in between Gwen and I. "Hey I can't see Madeleine. Lane please move back" Gwen says while whacking her brother firmly with her weak hand.

Lane drags his chair back and it makes a screeching, ear piercing noise against the floor to reveal me to Gwen. Gwen and I hold our hands over our ears and both scrunch up our faces to the sound of Lane's chair. I pull my legs up to my chest and curl up in a ball. "What? Did that hurt your ears" Lane laughs.

Lots of other patients and nurses turn their heads and look at Lane and the odd squeaking nose from down the hall . Lane just laughs and exclaims "I'm sorry".

Gwen and I just sit there laughing in our hospital beds. It hurts my throat but it's worth it.

A nurse walks by and says "You shouldn't be talking much, you need to rest up, get some sleep Miss Andrews".

I gulp which hurts and Gwen and Lane have their eyes on me. Another nurse walks past my bed and looks at me. She turns her head and walks across the cold tiles. "Would you like me to bring in your mother to see you? The nurse asks.

I look at her, she's wearing blue scrubs and a pair of converse runners. "That would be good thanks" I say while clutching my throat, which is in gradual pain now. What did they do to my throat in their?

"Where mum?" Gwen says to Lane, looking quite sad running her fingers against each other.

Lane looks at the roof and sighs. "She needed time away, she needed to relax, so she sent me. I think she needs some time alone" Lane exemplifies while running his hands though his golden caramel blonde hair.

The door from the waiting room creaks open slowly and I hope it's my mum but behind the dull door is only a sobbing young woman with drooping brown hair. Tears run from her eyes and she runs down the hall of the recovery unit. "Honey, you're ok" I hear her yell.

I hear a loud cry come from a man and I wait patiently for my mum still. I wonder how long she will be. I stare at Lane and Gwen again and they both seem happy and they are smiling. Lanes caramel hair glistens in the light and his hair is like gold. It has shines in the light and it catches your eye. The door opens again and their standing by the door to the waiting rooms is my mum. "Hey Madeline, how are you feeling?" She asks while reaching for my hand and she begins massaging it.

To whoever is actually reading this, thanks for the reads x. Also is their any adjustments I should make? Oh, sorry for the extremely late update, I was quite busy with tests and homework. Now I am actually getting a break soon I think I might write a bit more.

Should I keep writing this as well?  And I promise, I WILL UPDATE MORE.
