XXXVIII: Parentheses

Death finally allowed her girlfriend to see Annie Gavel. She knew that the time was right because Annie was bleeding again. 

Annie had not bled since the 1920s. 

"I think that Ada is going to go for the kill soon," Annie told Samantha while Bandit was still sleeping. "I think that's why I'm bleeding." She pulled up her dress to show Samantha the large fleshy scar on her side. It was brownish-purplish and hideous. That was where Ada murdered her centuries ago. Reddish blood oozed from the unopened scar. Samantha looked away. The last time Annie bled from that scar was when Ada went on her killing spree and murdered anyone related to her. 

"Talk to her," Samantha said. 

So that's what Annie did.

She went up to Bandit's room and sat on the floor, waiting. Finally, Bandit woke up. Samantha could hear them talking outside her door. 

Samantha sat with her back against Bandit's door, listening as closely as possible. Their voices were mostly muffled so she let her mind drift back to the night at Synergy. Bandit had almost died of fear then. She would not let Bandit die before they destroyed Ada. 

Annie and Bandit started talking louder so Samantha perked up. 

"What kind of psychotic mother even murders their child?" Bandit asked. Samantha cursed under her breath. She forgot that Bandit didn't know the true story.

"Mother?" Annie asked, clearly confused. 

Just stop talking, Bandit, Samantha furiously thought. Please stop talking. You don't want to know you don't want to know you don't want to know you don't wa--

"Ada. Your mother," Bandit said. 

Fuck, she thought. 

"Oh," Annie said. Samantha stood up to hear them better. She wished that she could telepathically tell Annie to stop talking and telepathically tell Bandit to shut her sexy mouth up. 

"Oh?" This came from Bandit. 

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

"Ada isn't my mother," Annie said. 

Samantha never wanted to kill something more in her life. 

Annie continued, "Ada isn't my mother. Her sister, Adeline, is. Ada is my aunt. She killed my mother." 

Samantha then burst through the door.
