Before we start, this was written for school, based on "The Monkey's Paw". Enjoy!

"Come on Anna, how can that paw be magic? Frankly it's disgusting looking," My best friend Noel told me as we were walking home from school. I pulled my backpack strap higher onto my shoulder and rolled my eyes.
"You don't know that it's not either, and if it was, what could possibly go wrong?" I huffed, pushing my brown hair out of my face as the wind blew it around. I had gotten the shriveled monkey's paw from a friend who went to India over the summer. She had told me it could grant 3 wishes, and I was extremely excited. Noel however, thought it was stupid and didn't have magic. He also thought if it did, it would be evil magic.
"If it could grant wishes why would Frankie give it to you?" He asked, stopping so he could turn and face me.
I shrugged,"I don't know, but let me make a wish, and I'll show you it works and that nothing bad will happen to me."
He reluctantly nodded his head, eyeing me carefully as I pulled out the paw. I smiled as I wished that I could be apart of any fantasy world of my choice and it still be the same time when I got back. The paw jumped in my hand, and I shrieked and almost dropped it.
"It moved in my hand, like something out of Harry Potter!" I yelled, before realizing I wasn't on the sidewalk corner with Noel anymore. Instead, I was on a busy street covered with people in robes. There were stores lining the streets, and I recognized one from my favorite book series.
The outside of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes wasn't it's normal orange color, and instead was black and white. I realized then that the whole of Diagon Alley was black and white, including the people and their clothes, and not colorful like J.K. Rowling described in the Harry Potter books.
I took a look around at the people around me. They weren't as happy as I had pictured they would be. Their eyes were weird as well, as if there wasn't anyone inside there, but as if they were emotionless, that they were empty. They were a deep black, and the gazes they gave me freaked me out. I made eye contact with one of the citizens and froze in my spot. The citizen shot me a malicious smirk, and I could feel myself grow pale. It was in that moment that I realized I didn't want to be here anymore.
TAKE ME BACK!, I screamed in my head. Then everything blurred. Just like before, I was whisked away and back onto the pavement with Noel.
"Did it work?" Noel asked, before taking notice of my pale complexion.
"N-no. It didn't. Let's g-go home," I stuttered, pushing past my bestfriend. I made a mental note to burn the paw in the fireplace when I got home.
