Chapter Twenty VI

Sasuke Uchiha

"Orochimaru-sama! I've found the girl's location."

I turned to face the new presence that entered the training ground.

"Very good, Kabuto."

I sheathed my katana back to it's original place.

Girl?

Must be one of his specimen that escaped from those experimental labs.

"Sasuke, I want you to get the girl for me."

"But Orochimaru-"

Kabuto's sudden interruption perked my interest.

"You must be bored being cope up in this basement for almost three years. Take this chance to get some fresh air Sasuke."

He dragged my name like how a snake would, causing me to raise my brow at him.

"And who exactly is the girl?"

"Just an experiment I've hadn't gotten my hands on. Don't disappoint me."

With that, Orochimaru dismissed us, and I followed Kabuto through the empty hallways.

My mind wondered to her.

How long has it been since I've last seen her?

I hope she remembers the stupid promise she made.

Wait for me, I'll definitely find you when I've become stronger.

"I'm assigning four other sound nins to accompany you."

"What for? I think I can handle her myself."

"I'm not underestimating your abilities Sasuke. She's from the Akatsuki. And most of the time, they have partners with them."

Akatsuki huh.

If I'm lucky enough, I'll be able to meet Itachi and fight him.

"Also, don't tire yourself out in the fight. Your body is still adapting to the new drug I gave you last week."

"So who is the girl that I'm suppose to bring back."

"You'll know when you get there. Now here's the map, and-"

Before he could even finish his sentence, I've already teleported out of the cave, with four other nins behind me.

What's the point of hiding the girl's identity from me?

Is this a test?

The sound of leaves rustling snap me out from my thoughts as we hid behind the trees.

"Aniki! Are you sure this is the right way?"

A little girl in two pigtails held onto her brother's arm as they navigate their way through the forest.

"I remembered she said to keep going straight."

The girl puffed her cheeks out, pulling him to a stop.

"Can we go back already?"

The boy with hazel brown hair sighed, before turning to face his sister.

"I know you're tired Aoi, but if we go back, we're going get ourselves killed by those guys. I promise I'll protect you so don't worry okay?"

His smile reassured her and they continued their journey to wherever they were heading.  

I watched them walking further and further from our hiding spot, a feeling of nostalgia washed over me.

"Sasuke?"
