The words that whispered towards my ears.

The words hit my ears, crashing reality in the moment.

My body limp, my arms hung over the smooth wooden edges of the bed frame, it felt so hard but perfect. No prickling, it teased imperfect me. My head pressed against the pillow, my ears hugging the fabric, my head forcely tilted to the right, I get a glimpse of its color, red. I closed my eyes lightly fighting the urge to shut them as tight as my flesh is suffering. Red, the color of my lips, a color I had spread so nicely across my lips earlier today, hoping for a bold appearance but as the pain I endured had settled in I knew I anything but bold. The rest of my make up had been smudged, the mattress had been marked not only by my make up but by the moment. And the saddest thing is that I still had been breathing.
