This is not a safe place,
this place has never been.
In past, and present and years to come,
No, safe is not what it was.
I've lived these terrors all my life,
Now I've started to see,
These things I've come to know
This is not what normal is.
Bruises and tears
Laced thick with fears.
Late nights laying awake,
Failed plans to escape.
I know not how to live,
A life free of fear.
This place is not a safe place,
But for now,
It holds me here.
