The tips of my shoes scuffed the dirty sidewalk while huge hands shoved me out the door. Part of me wanted to know who this guy was, the other part of me just wanted more booze. In the back of my mind I knew I was at my limit though. My legs wobbled and I clutched the side of the brick wall for support, struggling to stand upright. The taste of liquor still burned in my throat. It was a way to escape something, I had been in there for a reason. Now I can't remember why. Across the street the tall light flickered on, showing a red phone booth. My brain forced my legs to move. If someone was watching me I'm sure they'd point and laugh, but I didn't care. It was dark out and no one was outside of the bar. A giggle escaped my lips as I reached the cracked road. My eyes looked down. A black sea of pavement screamed at me; it challenged me. I laughed at it, at it's foolishness. Challenge me? I'll show the damn road. My shoes tapped loudly on the ground as I stumbled my way across. A faint sound echoed in my ears, but I kept my eyes down. I was going to make it to the phone booth. Halfway through the road lights blinded my eyes and a screeching sound roared in my ears. My neck snapped up to see a monster coming at me. My hands came up to protect my face, but why? Why was that the only movement I was able to manage? The legs attached to my body were no longer mine. They were a strangers; someone else's that I could not control. The mouth on my face did not belong to me. It let out a shriek, but that was not mine. I would have moved, gotten out of the way. The alcohol had infected my body. It took me away and replaced me with a new person. Someone incapable of properly thinking, of protecting themselves. Now, I was sure of it, this person would be the one to get me killed. What a wonderful way to die; intoxicated to the point of not caring about death. I focused on the beast in front of me; a blue Cadillac with bright headlights.
The funny thing is that I couldn't tell if the brightness I saw was 'the light' or just those damn headlights. I don't think I even cared. But, when the tires screeched across the ground, my heart was pounding so hard it probably could have exploded from my chest and blew up the whole state. I raised a shaky hand and lay it across my chest, trying to catch my breathe. I felt like myself now, and when the lights blinding me turned off, I felt alive.
The driver's door opened and out stepped a leg. The sound of the person's foot hitting the ground bounced off the buildings on the sidewalks. Nothing was more distinctive than the anger in that one foot. To be honest, it scared me. The emotion in that one tiny motion was too much for something good to be following behind it. I was terrified when the body stepped out. The darkness cloaked them, allowing them to stay safe behind a wall of the night. My breath left my lungs hurriedly, uneven, and fast. Another street lamp flickered on, revealing that stranger to me.
"What the hell were you doing?" A deep voice asked me. The owner of the voice was dressed in a black suit with a white shirt, topping it off with a red tie. He walked towards me with no hesitation, no care about my fears. My mouth stumbled over words and could not get them to exit my intoxicated lips. The only sound I managed to make was an awkward growl, which in return gave the blond haired boy a very weird face. He stepped closer to me. So close his suited chest touched against my t-shirted one. Minty breath blew into my face, startling me. It smelled good.
"I almost fucking hit you. How drunk are you?" The man spat at me. Something inside of me stirred, the feeling of being drunk left me and anger replaced it. Still unable to stand steady, I shoved a pointed finger into his chest as my face blushed red with madness.
"Exactly, you almost fucking hit me. Why don't you watch where you're going next time, pal? I don't need anymore shit in my life, and you're throwing it at me like you're a god damn chimp." I snapped back at him. This took him by surprise, a look of astonishment covered his face. After a few seconds a laugh left his lips. I removed my finger and crossed my arms, staring at him. His body bent at his stomach as he laughed harder, putting the palms of his hands on his knees. This was a waste of time, I finally decided. I turned away from his and started to walk away.
"Hey, wait," One of his hands caught my wrist as he talked through laughs, I stopped walking but didn't turn around. "You're funny, I like you. I've had a bit of a rough night. So I apologize for my rudeness."
"It's fine. Are you going to let go of me now? I need to go find a motel to stay at." I sighed in response. I felt his fingers loosen, but then tighten again. A frown placed on my face, I turned around ready to ask what's wrong. His body was much closer than before, and a new emotion was in his eyes when they stared into mine.
"I don't think a cheap motel would be suitable for a pretty little thing like you." He whispered into my face. The scent of his breath mixing with his cologne had a unique effect on me. My brain screamed at me to say 'no', but my mouth wouldn't respond to it. I remained silent, doing nothing but looking into his blue eyes. They were fascinating; like looking at the bluest ocean in the world, or starring into the bluest sky you can imagine. The range of feelings I felt just from starring into his eyes was enough to get me more drunk than the beers from before. Or, maybe they just brought the feeling of being drunk back. I was okay with it. My eyelids fluttered shut as his lips met mine. I no longer cared that I had just met this man, or that I didn't even know his name. Nothing mattered now. The only thing I cared about was that he wanted me. He wanted me, and I wanted him. We stood in the middle of this empty and broken road, allowing ourselves to be taken over by the other.
