"I'm different. I hate it. People would never be friends with me." I said, breathing heavily. This ability is worthless. I can't get it to work. I looked up to Jake next to me. He was standing, staring at me.
"Does that mean me?" He said. He narrowed his eyes at me and continued, "You're unique, Jesse. People are just jealous of you because your a golden child, like me. People hate me too, you know."
"Jake, I didn't mean it like that." I knew he was mad.
"It's okay, I just want you to understand. Getting this gift of being a golden child is special, that means you're special. Those other people aren't special enough." He said, sternly.
"I just never want to be this in the first place, okay? It's just.. too much." I said, softly trying to explain.
"They believed you. That's why you are who you are. And you will be you forever. It will never change." Jake said, kneeling next to me. He closed his eyes and disapeared from my sight.
I was left in the training room, all alone. I hated being a golden child.
