The gentle rhythmic beat of rain echoed through out the dark valley. A muffled crash sounded in the distance. A lone soul stood facing east. A tall cold stone slab staring back at him. Deadlox shivered pulling his black jacket tighter around him despite being soaked he couldn't bring himself to move. To retreat to the warmth of the castle wich now seemed empty without its king.
Hot tears blurred with icy rain as painful memories replayed a tragity that occurred only days in the past.

The war between the Sky and Squid army had been over for just about six months now, and every one was enjoying the peace and quiet. Especially Sky and Deadlox. Towards the end of the war, the two had grown much closer, forming a deep bond and understanding. There was no doubt in either's mind. It was love pure and true.
Said lovers were walking hand in hand down a brightly lit hallway in the large Budder castle. The day had drawn to an end the two had decided to turn in.
Sky gently kissed his friend's forehead as they reached the door to his room, or should he say their room. Opening the door behind him and leading his lover into the spacey bedroom. Deadlox giggled as he danced to an in audiable tune(probably from his headphones). This particular night was special, being their 8 month anniversary, Sky had promised him a night full of cuddles and sweetness. Te Minecrafter could hardly contain his excitement as he triwrled about in his lovers arms. The air was sweet with the scent of sugercookies. Glow stone soflty illuminating the reflective walls creating a performance of dancing shadows. The silence acted as a comforting blanket as words were irrelevent to express emotion. Teasing him with more kisses Sky picked up Deadlox bridal style spinning him towards the comfortable bed. Both laughing lightly.
"I love you Sky." Deadlox murmured, a sleepy lust clouded his red-brown eyes. Sky smiled leaning forwards to meet his companions lips.
"I love you too." The king Whispered in response.

Outside the sucluded castle, crickets harmonized and mobs lurked. But one stood out from the rest.
------pause flashback-----
Deadlox shivered, doing his best to stifle sobs. Small streams of tears flowed down his raw cheeks. It had happened so fast.
'If only I hadn't left...then maybe I could of protected him...like he protected me...'
-----resume flashback-----
"Oh shout!" Deadlox exclaimed face palming at his sudden relization.
"What is it?" His lover inquired. Grinning at how adorable Deadlox looked.
"I left my headphones downstairs. I'll be right back." He said jumping off the comfortable bed and bolting out of the room to retrieve the forgotten head gear. As soon as the other teen left the room sky immediately became bored. Only notch new how long it would take for Deadlox to retrieve his ever present headphones. And knowing him it would take a while. The king sighed in defeat. The boredom was inescapable.
Deadlox entered the parlor looking intently for his headphones. They weren't in the dimming room or the foyer so they had to be in the parlor. Scanning the room Deadlox's red-brown eyes rested on the green headset. A soft glow showed that they still worked. Deadlox smiled and reached out for them.
An ear splitting scream echoed through out the castle, shattering the peaceful silence. Deadlox jumped dropping his headphones he ran back up to te master bedroom fearing the worst.
"Sky?! Sky what's wrong? What happened?" He shouted turning down the final hall before reaching the source of the scream.
Without a second thought the teen rushed up to the door and flung it open. The gruesome scene stopped him in his tracks.
Sky was face down on the floor. A small pool of crimson forming around him. A dark figure escaped out the window, never to be seen again. Deadlox forced himself to move. Running to his lover, tears welling up in his eyes.
Deadlox kneeled by Sky cradling the injured king in his arms.
"S-sky...please... Answer m-me..." The king groaned in response. Dull brown orbs fluttering open.
"Deadlox," he murmered. The kings voice was scratchy and chocked. Upon hearing his name the headphone wearing boy hugged his lover tighter.
"Yes sky?" Deadlox asked, his own voice quivering as tears threatened to fall. Sky smiled softly and asked.
"Sing with me? Just one last time?" Reaching up the dying king cupped his lovers chin. Deadlox nodded his head in a quick response.
The words to come we're as soft and sweet as the happy memories the two shared.
"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light..."
The two joined in harmony as te last line flowed about.
"You and ill be safe and sound."
Hot tears streamed down Deadlox's face as he sobbed quietly, listining as Dky continued into the second verse.
"Don't you dare look out your window, darling everything's on fire. The war outside our door keeps raging on." Ty remembered the fleeting moments years ago when Sky would lull him to sleep. The war dragging on with what seemed like no end.
"Hold on to this lullibye, even when the music's gone...."
"Gone. Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light you and ill be safe and sound."
Sky's breathing grew slower and all to soon, the slow rise and fall of the Kings chest stopped. Deadlox's eyes widened in fear as he felt the soul of his lover slip away. It was now that he let himself cry. Sobs wracking his small body. Deadlox shook Sky, begged and pleaded for him to come back. But the dark crimson liquid wich soaked his shirt and pooled on the floor forced him to accept his lovers death.

Thunder crackled in the distance an Deadlox lifted his head towards the pitch black sky. He had to do it. For his lover, for his king, for the rambunctious budder loving idiot.
'For Sky...'
Even as his heart ached Deadlox opened his mouth and sang.
Just close your eyes, the sun is going down.
You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now.
Come morning light you and ill be safe and sound
