The sky overhead stirred restlessly with storms. The once visible moon was obscured by the dark clouds.
"Daughter, come away." Mother called softly. I nodded and moved obediently. My brothers stood at the window as Mother, Rashel, Vanil, Temareh, and I withdrew from them and hid in the inner most rooms of the house.
"Mother..." Nickolis called. She turned.
"Yes?"
"Be safe." I looked at my brother. It was as if we were leaving him.
"We will, my son. And you," she kissed his forehead, "may the blessing of the Sun, Moon and Stars wash over you and shield you from what is to come."
I watched my brother nod and turn away. He walked back to the window and stood there, a bow clutched firmly in his hand that hadn't been there a second before. Mother wisked us away. We five stepped through the Gate. We were back onto Earth in a blink. Our old manor house was still as it should have been. Dark, empty and has a feeling of home.
"Go to your rooms, girls." Mother ordered and my sister walked tot heir rooms, their cloaks spreading like wings in their wake. I looked Mother.
"Mother?"
"Yes, Lunetta?"
"Will we ever return to Araza?" To my horror and sorrow, she shook her head.
"No, my daughter, we will not. The world of Araza is going to be gone soon. Your brothers will be here before then, hopefully." She murmured. I watched as my mother seemed to age in front of me. Years of taking care of people has finally worn her down.
"Mother?"
"Yes, Lunetta?"
"Would you mind teaching me the ability of healing?" My mother smiled tiredly.
"I'd love to, Daugther, but for now, you must rest. The moon is waking, you should be sleeping."
"But I live by the moon, Mother. You know that." Mother laughed softly.
"Ahhh true, very true. Well, off to your room, my dear. You should map your star friends." I smiled and bid my mother good night before hurrying to my room in the attic. I pull open one window and look at the roof. I stepped out and paced around a bit, testing the strength.
"LUNETTA, GET OFF THE ROOF!!!" Rashel yelled from her window. I looked up.
"I'm star mapping, Rae! Go away!" I watched Rashel shake her head and murmur something inaudible before disappearing from the window. I turned back to my stars and sighed before opening my notebook and started to map out the stars for the night.
