(12 year old Naruto P.O.V.)

I learned many things in the academy. I was pretty good with kunai knives, but that was about it. It was hard to learn all the jutsu without being able to see, but I managed. I had excellent hearing due to vision being cut off, and since I could sense my opponent's emotions a bit, it was like I wasn't actually blind in the first place.

'Keh, you're still blind Naruto. How can you be a ninja if you can't see the opponent?' said Kyuubi, snickering.

'I'll figure something out, Kyuubi..' I said mentally.

'Figure something out? Like what?' he asked questioningly.

'Like, I don't know, just let me think for a moment,' I responded.

I wasn't sure how I could fight in a real battle while blind. I've heard about other people's Kekkei Genkai's and that some are for the eyes. Maybe if I inherited a Kekkei Genkai, or got one from someone, I might be able to see if it was a dojutsu!

'Ha! Good luck finding someone who'd be willing to give one to you,' Kyuubi laughed. I ignored him, continuing my thoughts.

Anyways, I sometimes told people that I could feel their sadness or nervousness, but they would just tell me they weren't sad or nervous, like it wasn't normal to sense emotions. I guess it wasn't. Being able to do this made my life a bit easier.

Today was my graduation day. I was only required to create one clone and then I was off the hook. I had completely studied this topic, so I was ready, but nervous. Iruka called me up to the front. I sat up, going to Iruka and performing the hand signs perfectly.

"Clone Jutsu."

A perfect copy of me appeared next to me.

"You pass!" Iruka said, ruffling my hair. I hid my face in embarrassment, causing the whole class to giggle.

After some paperwork, I was finally given my ninja headband. I tied it messily to my forehead while walking with Iruka to Ichiraku's ramen. Once we ordered, I decided to tell Iruka about my ability to sense emotions.

"Uh, I-Iruka?" I asked.

"Yeah, Naruto?" I felt Iruka's stress, probably from having to instruct things at the academy.

"I n-need to tell you something," I said, feeling nervous again.

"Anything at all Naruto!" Iruka said cheerfully.
