Less Expected

I know that I’m not the only one who experiences this kind of love. That feeling that you’ve fallen for someone yet he doesn’t know it. And what’s more hurting is you are much older than him. It loses your hope that you can still be loved by that someone.

Hi! I’m Christine. 17 years old. My family is living in a middle class life. I am currently studying at STI Colleges as a scholar because my parents can’t afford to pay for my semestral fees. And there is Jeric, My childhood friend. He is only 15 years old. He’s rich, tall and totally handsome. He is also smart and very humorous. I really enjoy his company that made me fall for him. I really love those eyes and smiles. But he can’t see it and I don’t want him to know because I don’t want him to go away.

I heard that someone rang the door bell. I ran so fast that made me slip. My butt aches! But I still came and opened the door. I was surprised to see my friend Mitch, Cath and Jane with Max and … JERIC! Oh my God. I let them in since I was alone in our house. Mom and Dad were away for work. It was fresh and sunny Saturday morning and Jane noticed that I’m in pain.

~ “Hey Tine! What happened?” She asked.

~ “I slip off the floor a while ago when I hurriedly opened the door.” I answered.

~ “oh! You alright? Sorry. It’s our fault.” Jeric said.

~ “No! It’s ok. It’s my fault. Come on! Sit down, let’s watch a movie.” I added.

Mitch and Cath came with me heading towards the kitchen to prepare snacks. When we came back to the living room, we saw Max manipulating the dvd player and played the movie “Coming Soon”. We handed them the sandwiches, potato chips and orange juice. Max and Jeric closed the door and the windows that made the house dark. It made the surrounding really creepy. The Jeric sat down beside me. Mitch teased me secretly as she know that I have feelings for Jeric. I beg her to stop so that Jeric would not notice us talking about him.

The film has started. Mitch, Cath and Jane were already screaming to death. While me and the boys are laughing at them. I noticed that Cath is already crying so I decided to turn the dvd off. The boys opened the windows and started teasing Cath. It’s really a fun day with them. I really enjoyed the time with Jeric. He didn’t know that I am secretly looking at him a while ago.

A week passed and Max texted me. He wants to watch a movie with me so I agreed. I thought that day would be like the other hangouts we made but I was shocked when Max confessed that he has feelings for me. But I have no choice but to tell him that he’s not my type and it was Jeric I adored for almost my life. He accepted it and said that he will stay the same. I felt a smile on my heart after hearing those words from him. But there’s another revelation. Max told me that Jeric also loves me and was just afraid of telling me that maybe someday I will go away from him.

When we went home, I remember what Max had told me. And I am so happy. But what if it was only a lie? I don’t know. I will just wait for the right time.

When I was about to take my sleep, someone is throwing pebbles on my window. I turned on the light of my room and it stopped. I take a look at it and surprisingly saw Max with Jeric. OH MY!!

Jeric told me to go out and talk to him. When I walk out, Jeric hugged me tight and said that he really loved me. Then I suddenly felt tears rushing on my face. He wiped it and confessed that Max had told him everything. I thanked Max for what he had done to both of us. I’m so thankful he remained a good friend just for our happiness. From then, Jeric and I became boyfriend-girlfriend neglecting the age and life standing-gaps.
