"Look his folks died in some big accident" Mr. Feye said

"I know but it doesn't seem right, we've lived her all our lives how come we've never heard of him?" asked Sara

"He doesn't belong here dad for all we know he can't even milk a cow!"

"Actually he grew up with his dad on a ranch! the sheriff said ' he's the best damned worker he's ever seen. Apparently he's strong as a bull and moves fast ; he's just not um . . . whats the word" said Feye

" Smart" Sara chimed

" No no he's a straight A student"

"Really" she said sarcastically

" Look his mother was murdered short after his father was; hell there's people who think he did it!" said Feye

James sat on a fence post on the outer fields of the wheat farm. As much as he hated not being at home in his dads mansion he couldn't dismiss the beauty the farm offered. Funny he thought he had always loved animals and nature it seemed to explains him; wild, creative, beautiful he loved it all. James could sit four hours in silence listening to the sound of the woods the birds chirping and the scuttle of little creatures in the underbrush. The family lived on a modest farm in a modest town and slept in a modest house. It was all to simple for his liking.

"What!!" Sara said louder than she wanted

" I said people think, there is no evidence against him!"

"It doesn't mean he didn't do it"

" Sara it doesn't matter what YOU think he's staying here and that's finale"

"FINE!!" said Sara

" Now dinner is almost done go get him and show him to his room" said Mr. Feye

"But"

"No buts" ordered Feye

Mr. Feye returned to the house through the beat up screen door. He couldn't wrap his head around why Sara didn't want James to be here so much. well he could figure out why later right now he had to finish dinner. Tonight was steak night so he cooked the dinner.

Sara trudged through the field towards

the spot James sat. "why does he have to stay here" she whispered" he doesn't belong here" after a few more yards she came upon the fence. she looked around but couldn't find James

She walked up and down the fence looking for him but saw no sign of him. finally she turned towards the woods and walked to the edge and yelled "James are you out there?" after a few moments she heard " ah yea why?"

"Dinner is almost done we need to head in" she yelled

"Ok Ill be right there just give me a second" James yelped

"What are you doing in there any way?" Sara asked

"Nothing I said I'd be right there"

Sara walked forward into the woods following the sound of his voice. "Where are you?" she croaked suddenly aware of the silence in the woods. she felt nervous, uneasy walking in the dim light. She turned around a forked tree and found James standing over a deer with a gaping whole in its leg. James turned to her and said " get down and be quite. Its scared but not immobilizes. As long as your here I need your help! take his leg we need to splint it."

" What . . . what are you doing"

" Don't think about it its just wounded" said James

"No I . . . I cant the blood"
