James Maslow knew that if anyone wanted to be good at football, they would need to go to weights in the morning. He went every morning, even during off season. He had to be good. How could anyone be as popular as him and not be good? He didn't know.
James strolled down the hallway, nodding at a few girls as he walked. He met up with his 2 best friends, Landon and Will, waiting for him by his locker. James has been best friends with Landon since 2nd grade. They've always been the unstoppable crew, and have also dated almost every girl in their grade. Landon's always said that football was too main stream, so he's taken up wrestling. He almost made it to state, too. Nothing gets between Landon and his wrestling. Not even his current girlfriend, Harper Braxton. Haven't heard of her? Everyone else has. Your typical head cheerleader. Perfect for Landon.
As for Will, he moved into La Jolla High School in 9th grade. Ever since then him and James have been the top 2 football players of the La Jolla Vikings. Since then, Will has also dated almost every girl in the school, maybe even all of California. But even though Will tries to hide it, he cares about his grades. He dreams of getting into a good college like Standford, or maybe even Harvard. James and Landon always made fun of him for it, so he tried to act dumb, but Will could never stop thinking about his future.
"Hey James, did you hear Coach yesterday? He said he was picking a star player to represent the team. Star PLAYER! It has to be one of us," said Will.
"I left practice early, remember? Why didn't you tell me earlier Will! And why would couch pick only 1 of us?"
"Sorry Dude, I forgot. Besides, it's not like it's a hard decision for him. It's ovbious-"
"Come on Will." Landon finally cut in. "Football is so stupid. Your life will not be over if you're not the star player of 1 lousy high
school sport team. It doesn't matter.""Well it matters to me," said Will. "Coach said he's posting the results after school on the south billboard. You know, the one by the music hall?"
"The music hall, you've got to be kidding me," James snapped. "That place is for band geeks and orchestra phonies. And don't get me started on those choir imbeciles. Why does Coach make us go down there?"
"Amen," answered Will. "But I need to see that paper. See you guys down there after school?"
"Agreed," replied James and Landon.

Bailey Fellis heard a screech from her clarinet and sighed. She just couldn't get this part right.
"Give it a rest Bailey. It's just a measure, no reason to ruin my hearing over."
"Why are you even in here Spencer? Don't you have a bow to rosin?"
Spencer was an obnoxious cello player from across the hall. Bailey thought of him as her "close acquaintance." But he was probably her closest friend. If you could even call him that.
Bailey's only friend was her clarinet. She loved it to pieces. Every morning she'd come into the band room and practice. It was her way to express herself. She was the best clarinetist in the band because of it, but she didn't care about that. Right now, all she cared about was this measure.
"Matter of fact, I do," replied Spencer. "I have auditions today, and I'm going to be the 'Cello Section Leader.'"
"Is that so?"
"It's a great honor, Bailey, one you just wouldn't understand. And I have the advantage of rehearsing before school. I'm guaranteed to get it."
As Spencer made his exit towards the orchestra room, he tripped over a trumpet, sending it straight to the ground.
"Now you've done it!" yelled Bailey.
The sound sent the band director running into the room. He stopped in his tracks as he saw the trumpet in a million pieces. A musicians worst nightmare. The band director glared at Spencer. Spencer cracked under the pressure.
"It was Bailey! I just walked in!"
Bailey watched in horror as her band teacher wrote a detention slip to stay after school and clean instruments. Spencer gave her a week smile and ran to the safety of his cello. Bailey sighed and packed up her beloved clarinet.
