Cora brushes the final strands of her hair before heading downstairs. She stops by her identical twin sisters room to check if she is ready to leave. She peeps her head in the doorway and gets her answer by a semi curled hair Brunette.
"Lydia! We have to leave in five minutes if we are gonna get to school on time!" she huffed in frustration.
"Oh my god just leave without me then!" Lydia rolled her eyes.
Cora hesitated before grabbing the car keys to her car and leaving Lydia behind to drive to school alone.
She drove her normal route to school. Parked in the same place she's parked for the last two years. Then entered the same high school building shes about to have been in for 3 years.
Tyler caught her eye and they both instantly smiled then hugged.
"Bom Dia" he said in a bad Brazilian accent causing the two to laugh.
"Meet any hot guys this summer?" he asked as they walk to their lockers.
"None hotter than you" she said in a joking tone adding a wink at the end causing the pair to laugh again.
Tyler stopped her and looked at her seriously for the first time since she left for Brazil that summer. " Are you okay about the whole -" she cut him off with her hands.
Then quickly added "My family went to Brazil to forget about it and just move on." ending their conversation.
Across the school Lydia makes huge and late entrance. The bell rang ending everyone's gaze. She just shrugged at the stares, she was used to stares but these were full of judgment.
she did her combination opening her locker, revealing a large piece of paper that wrote
Murderer
She didn't hesitate before crumpling it into a safe place in her book bag. After scanning the hallway Lydia decided no one saw the sign, and that the perpetrator isn't present.
She grabbed her stuff heading to first period. In the rush she managed to run into a unrecognized boy. she barely mumbled a sorry and left him there to pick up his books alone, and no glimpse of her face.
He huffed while picking up the last paper and hustling to what he hoped was is first period class. Once he entered everyone stared at him. The teacher gave him a sour look before pointing him in the direction of the only empty seat in class, next to Cora.
The teacher announced "Now that everyone is here. It's important you get to know your'e lab partner, I don't switch." The class huffed.
He turned to her and held out his hand "I'm Jake Anderson, new here" she looked at him curiously.
"oh, um I'm Cora Prescott, Lydia's sister." she introduced herself the same as always.
"who?" he asked with a chuckle.
"You know? Lydia Prescott." she laughed.
"I don't know her." he responded casually.
Cora laughed "You do, trust me"
Jake's confusion was cut off by the teacher stating "This will be you're assignment for tomorrow, come prepared!" while writing an experiment on the board for them to copy.
He looked at her once more before the bell rang. He stared in awe at her beauty. Cora began packing up ending his daze.
As she leaves the room her phone buzzes. When she checks she reads a name she never thought she would see again.
Caleb Prescott
