*Ringggggggg*
Dismissal time. Usually I would look forward to classes being dismissed but now I dreaded it.
Dismissal means I would have explain everything to Mark, Daisy and maybe even Dylan. Dismissal meant that I had to talk to Dylan, alone, to clear things up.
Dismissal meant showing a side of me that I thought I would never have had to show anyone in this school.
My dark, resentful side full of hatred, hurt and betrayal.
I just hoped that they wouldn't judge me for it.
As soon as I stepped out of my classroom Mark sprang out of nowhere and shot question after question at me.
I covered his mouth with my hand to make him shut up, but it backfired when he licked my hand.
"Ewww!" I cried out and wiped my hand on my shirt to hopefully get rid of all the Mark germs in it.
"Tell meee!" Mark whined impatiently. I looked around and saw a broom closet. "This is turning out to be one Cliché day" I thought to myself. I dragged Mark towards it and pulled him in.
I locked the door for good measure. "Ooh, shouldn't you take me out on a date first?" He joked. "I would never want to, ever" I told him, dead serious.
"Oh yeahh... because you want to be with Dylannnnn" he teased "shut up!" I exclaimed, I could literally feel the blood rushing to my face.
I am glad that there was no light in the broom closet for fear that Mark would see me blushing.
"You didn't say no though..." Mark pointed out. I glared at him, but then realized that it was pointless because there was no light, so instead I decided to change the direction of the conversation. "Do you want to know why I did what I did or not?" I hissed at him. "I do!" Mark said, all teasing gone from his voice. "Well then shut up and listen!"
So I relayed to him everything that happened, starting with me being depressed for months thinking that Oliver had cheated on me with some random girl, and then when I finally went out of my depression to go to school because an ex friend of mine made me think that he loved me, I saw Oliver with Lilly who I thought was my best friend.
I explained to Mark that I only did what I did to protect him, and quite subtly added that Daisy was a better match for him anyway, which in my case wasn't subtle at all.
"I... Jennifer I didn't know, I'm sorry" Mark said in a shaky voice. "It's... it's fine, I should be apologizing because I sort of used you, and that wasn't cool of me either"
There was a moment of silence. I wasn't sure if it was a comfortable or awkward one, somewhere in between.
"I was only talking to Lilly because she didn't copy the notes on the board and she wanted to study to be ready for a pop quiz our teacher might spring on us" Mark admitted.
"Oh... so I guess that whole show was for nothing then?" I said, disappointed. My acting skills were wasted!
"No, it wasn't because now I know that you like me!" Mark said, I could literally HEAR him grinning.
"No! I don't like you I like Dylan!"
Lights filled the dark broom closet and I shielded my eyes.
When I finally adjusted to the light I saw Dylan standing in shock beside Daisy and Mark who were grinning wildly.
"You... you like me?"
