My name is Phil I have been doing athletics for five years now but I have never seen this happen before. One day when I came to practice, a guy from the English national athletics team had came to say that he is going to have a competition and the winner will go to the U-19 team and that the competition will be in one week. I went to the locker room and changed for 400 meter practice. When I came out to the athletic plane, I ran over to the starting line up and ran. When I finished I saw that I had beaten my record and I felt so ready for the competition.

As I was walking down the bumpy street I saw my biggest opponent he was also practicing for the 400 meter sprint I could tell, he ran up and down the street multiple times and he ran very fast and I started to get nervous. I walked into the hall and dropped all my things in the hall and I could smell that my mom had cooked me chicken with rice. After I had ate my food I took a quick shower and then ran over to my best friend David.

After school we often run a lap around our 4 km track but this time something was different. It was all quite in the woods the only thing I could hear was the leaves blowing away from the threes and the birds singing their songs and it was really peaceful. The track was dirty and bumpy and David hurt himself on a rock that was laying in the middle of the road. So I took his phone and called his mother because he could not walk, after 15 minutes in the peaceful forest I heard someone come walking it was his mother. Later that evening he called me and said that he had a fracture in his foot and that he could not compete in the competition.

When I woke up next morning I felt bad for David because he had hurt his foot. I got up from my bed with pain in my muscles. I walked down the stairs into the kitchen and ate a sandwich and drank orange juice. Then my dad told me that I needed to stretch my muscles and that would prevent me from getting hurt when I go training. I checked my phone and saw that my training started in one hour, I packed my Usain bolt training bag that I bought at the Olympics and ran to training for warm up. When I went to a little park I saw a homeless man sitting beside a bench, I felt so bad for him because he barely had clothes and it was getting colder outside. I stopped beside him and opened my bag and gave him my thick training shirt so he could be warm at day and night.

When I arrived at atletics campus, I checked my phone it was 14.55 and my training started at 3 o'clock. I walked through the glass painted door and got into the big arena, I got a good feeling that I was home. I went to my locker, putted my black adidas shoes on and my yellow T-shirt and last my black shorts I was now ready for training. I jogged towards 100 meter sprint when I got there I saw that I was the only one at this area. I asked my personal trainer Patrick where everyone was he said that everyone were outside to train length jump then he also told me that I was the only one fast enough for a special training camp before the big tournament. At this training camp the best boys and girls have to qualify for the tournament. I got into start position.

-Ready!

-Set!

-Go!

I ran, I felt the wind in my hair, when my foot left the ground I felt like I was flying, like I could do anything but when I finished that feeling left me. I looked at the scoreboard and I ran 3 seconds faster than last time. When I got home I told my mom that I had qualified for a special training camp before the tournament on Sunday. It was now Tuesday and the training camp starts tomorrow. When I got out of the kitchen I ran upstairs to my room, I packed my bag with all sorts of different things that I could need tomorrow, like my shoes and my water bottle and last but definitely the most needed thing clothes. After that it was bedtime, the time was 8 o'clock and I had to be ready for tomorrow.

I woke up in the middle of the night, I dreamt a nightmare. I dreamt that I ran 400 meter sprint, I was in the lead but then I fell and I could not get up on my feet again and when I finally finished I was in last place. When I got up the next morning I putted on my jogging clothes and then ran downstairs to eat breakfast the most important meal for the day. Then me and my dad got into the car and we drove to a big athletics arena outside the city. When I got there I red on the scoreboard that 400 meter sprint started in 1 hour. Then I recognized a name on the scoreboard it was biggest opponent Harry, he was also going to start at the 400 meter sprint. I started warming up, I ran back and forth 10 times in a jogging tempo. Then when it was finally time, the speaker shouted out the names for the sprint, me and six other names. I went to the starting line.

-Ready!

-Set!

-Go!

I got a good start, I was in the lead and Harry was in second place. When it was 100 meter left Harry passed me, when it was 50 meter left I passed him and I ended up winning the race. I left the arena with a big smile and big gold medal, but I could not rest now I still had a big tournament in front of me and the only one who could stop me was Harry. I woke up on Tuesday with training aches in my legs, and it was raining outside. But that wasn't going to stop me, I took my raincoat and started running. Then it started pouring down so much that I fell in a big ditch full of water and it was five kilometers home. Than a man came up to me with a towel and took me to a little camp. Then I saw it was the homeless man I helped the other day, and today he helped me. He gave me a warm towel and place in front of the fire. Even though he didn't have much he still gave me a towel and a warm place to rest at. When I was dry I thanked for everything and jogged home.

It was now time, my dad gave me a ride to the arena but this time it was different. Today it wasn't just 400 meter sprint, today it was everything high jump, length jump, javelin throw and more. I was going to start at the high jump and Harry was right after me. Before I was going to start he came up to me and said.

-Good luck you ran really fast the other day, hope I can beat you today.

- Yeah you can always hope but it won't happen.

-Can I ask you a question?

-Yeah what is it.

-Can I borrow your rod for the high jump?

- No.

I called David and asked if I could borrow his rod, he said yes. I was now ready, I went to the starting line and jumped. I jumped 2 meter and 37 centimeters high. Then I saw Harry sprinting towards me it looked like he was in some kind of stress.

-Hey Phil can I borrow your rod?He asked me.

-Of course what happened to your rod?

-I forgot it home.

He jumped and jumped 2 meter and 30 centimeters high. With that said, I was the winner. After the tournament I came home with one gold medal and two silver medals and a spot in the U-19 team. Then when I went to practice on Monday I saw Harry talking with my coach. Then just like that Harry was in my team. Now he is one of my best friends.
