Chapter 3

~Lunch Time~

Alfred POV

I had first lunch with Arthur, while Yao, Francis, and Ivan have second lunch. We sat at an empty round table, it was only the two of us so we were all alone, but I feel we would be getting a lot of people to join us. Like, some of Mikey's brothers are here, some of the people from Arthur's book club are here too, and we can't forget the new students.

I bought myself a salad since I don't want the other football players think that I'm fat. Not only is it healthy but it gives me a good image for the coaches. I sat down in our table in front of Arthur. We didn't say much since we were too busy eating, and who talks when you can eat! But after we're down eating, we spent the last ten minutes chatting. It only took me a few minutes to realize that there was a girl at the table next to us, that was lonely and reading a book.

"Hold on" I cut Arthur off on his story. He was confused but he just watched me. I got up and walked to the girl. "Excuse me, would you want to sit with us?" I asked her. She gave me a suspicious look, but gave me a quick nod. I grabbed her a chair and let her sit any where she wanted in our table. She hesitantly sat down in her seat. Her face didn't look familiar at all, she must be new here.

"Hello, my name is Alfred and this is my brother Arthur" I said to her.
"The name's Brea" said the girl named Brea. For some reason her accent sounded so familiar to me but I don't know why. "It seems you like books, are you going to join the book club, love" Arthur asked Brea. "I'm not sure, if this school doesn't have BPA or BP then I might join" Brea responded.

I figured out why Brea has such a familiar accent she's from America like me! I know this since she said BPA which means Business Professionals of America. I'm so smart! "You're from America, you said BPA, your a- your- you- y- you're a New Yorker!" I yelled on accident. Brea gave me a surprised look then she looked over at Arthur and asked "Is he the smart one?"

Arthur shook his head and said, "not even close." I glared at Arthur and then I said, "he's just lying." Brea rolled her eyes at us. She didn't say anything else, though.

I had to dump me and Arthur's tray because he refused to get up, and he calls me lazy. When I got back, Brea was gone but Arthur was still there. "Dude, where did Brea go?" I asked Arthur. "She said she was going to the bathroom" Arthur responded. She probably isn't coming back here, since we have one minute until the bell rings. We hoped that she would be okay, if we just leaved her.

Valeria POV

I just walked into the guidance office, I already got reports from the other students and I haven't talked to anyone yet. I sat down on a chair as I waited for the assistant principle to see what's the problem. Just then a girl walked in with long brown hair and was carrying a whole bunch of books and folders. She then dropped them at the doorway and fell over. She sighed as she started to pick up the fallen supplies. I got down and started helping her.

"Thank you, I'm a bit clumsy" said the girl. I nod and we both stood up. "So are you here to get your classes?" The girl asked. "No, just for other reasons" I answered her. The girl nod as she sit down on a chair to wait for a teacher to walk in. "So did you come from the school that was closed like me?" the girl asked me. "No, I just moved here from Russia just a month ago" I answered her. "Cool!" said the girl.

"My name's Mei, by the way" said the girl named Mei. "I'm Valeria Petov" I answered her, I tell people my last name since they think it's cool or frightening, its actually pretty funny. "Man, they're already having lunch, I didn't even eat" Mei whined as she stuck her head out of the door. I shrugged and said, "it doesn't matter to me, I'm not hungry."

I think my days been going great, besides the part where everyone is afraid of me, but I still made a friend and she knows nothing about my past. I was popular in Russia for assassinating many people. Unfortunately, rumors will spread and everyone will soon learn my true identity. I saw the assistant principle come in and I sighed, now I have to deal with this shit. Mei's lucky, she would end up being the good girl of the school.

"You're Mei, right?" the assistant principle said as she looked at her papers. "Yep" Mei answered her. "I believe I have yours, right here" she said as she pulled out a paper from her pile. "Here you go" said the assistant. Mei thanked her and left the guidance office.

Chikage POV

I had second lunch with Kyohei, Shelby, the twins, and some of the creepy people. I asked Shelby if she wanted to sit with me and Kyohei, but she said that she'll hang out with Slenderman and his group. I guess that they got along really well in first period. I thought it was only going to be us but Kyohei made a friend that would like to sit with us.

I walked into the lunchroom with my bag of food. I found Kyohei sitting with a pink haired girl. I smirked as I sat next to Kyohei. "I didn't know you made a girlfriend" I said to him. "Uh, that's the sister" Kyohei said. I smiled and turned to the girl. "What's your name?' I asked her. "Poppy" she responded. "I'm Chikage, you can always go to me when theirs a problem" I said to her. Poppy just nod.

After a while, her twin brother, Peter came in and we all started talking. I asked Poppy a few questions to learn more about her. "So, what's your favorite type of book?" I asked her. Her response actually caught me off guard. "Southern gothic" she said. I read a bunch of those and never expected her to read a story like that. "I never thought you were interested into those" I commented.

"I just really like the unpredictable endings, it explains more of the choices that humanity would make instead of giving a cliché response to the events that's happening" said Poppy. Half the time I didn't understand what she meant, but that sounded very smart. "In other words, Poppy likes surprise endings instead of 'the boy gets the girl' kind of stories," Peter explained to me and Kyohei, that made more sense since I'm not a book genius.

"Trust me, Poppy isn't like the books she read. She's the most lovable person you would meet" said Peter. "Thank you, brother" said Poppy with a smile. "Yeah I can tell, she defiantly is a sweetheart" I said with a wink. Kyohei looked at the clock and said, "It's really great to meet you Poppy, hopefully well meet up again in some other class." I nod and got up, me and Kyohei started heading back to our class.

I put on my fedora and sat on the rocking chair on the front porch. I saw a moving truck right in the driveway in front of our house. I guess we are finally getting new neighbors. The house has been empty for a year, and now I've finally got some neighbors. I wonder if they have a kid that would go to my school, because school is starting in a month and I have nothing to tell my friends.

I watched them open the back of the van, it was filled with furniture. I got and walked across the street to see if I could help out. "Excuse me?" I said to the muscular man carrying a nightstand. "Yes?" he responded to me in his deep voice. "I live across the road with my parents, and I was wondering if I could help?" I asked him, I actually felt more scare with this tall man mocking me.

"Of course, you can help my daughter set up her bedroom" said the man, for some reason he didn't seem that scary anymore. The man pointed in the van where a girl with dark blue hair was sliding the bed frame down the ramp. "Here let me help" I said to her as I pulled the bed frame down. "Thanks" said the girl.

By the time we were done, we sat on the grass and were talking. I found out her name was Shelby and that she moved here once her school was closed. I agreed to help her around the school and her parents were actually super nice. "Chikage, can you keep a promise?" Shelby asked me. "I'm sorry, but I don't like keeping promises" I said to her. "Oh" said Shelby really disappoint.

"Okay, I'll keep just one" I gave in. Shelby looked down at her hands and then at the road. "Promise me that you won't let me give up" she said to me. I didn't know what she met but I just said, "okay, I promise."
