“Sam, I think we can slow down we’re 5 miles out of Providence limits” “Matt! How could you!” “He’s probably still alive, I only threw him to the edge… Sam you know I have a temper.” “But still! Are you crazy?” Then Violet piped up next “We better find a place to sleep, it’s getting cold and we won’t last long in these costumes.” Sam searched for a place and found a cave then used Matt’s Zippo lighter and got a fire to start, they got to stay warm she thought. Before she knew it she was huddled in Matt’s arms drifting to a sleep full of nightmares. They sent Violet out in the morning to get clothes, who knows Matt and Sam could be anted murders. Finally Matt spoke up, “You didn’t sleep well last night.” “Yeah sorry my dreams were full of a dead burnt body!” Sam sneered. “I’m sorry, that wasn’t me something took over control.” “What? Your dad’s murderous sprit?!” “Sam! How could you say that? I couldn’t control my dad!” “He still killed!!” Matt pulled Sam close “I promise he’s alive and if I’m wrong we’re going to play a game, my dad used to call it the run away gang.”

*a few hours later*

Violet ran into the cave breathless “Guys we gotta move! Now!” “Violet, calm down, breath what is it?” “Sam he’s dead! Matt killed Jacob Sparks!” Sam stared at Matt, “We gotta go now Matt! It’s time to play the run away gang again! Violet got the clothes?” “Yeah but what the hel..” Sam cut her off “I’ll tell you later! Change and start running!” So they ran as long as they could till everyone was panting and ready to pass out, they needed a break but where is safe? They headed for the woods, with temperatures dropping it was sure to snow soon. That’s when Sam caught the sight of the TV in the diner. “Guys were on the news, I got to hear this!” they slipped inside in time to hear the words that would change their lives forever. “And the hunt continues for 3 teenage murders Samantha Stone who’s 16, Matthew Knight who’s 17, and Violet Lacoy who’s 16, if anyone sees these teenagers tell the local police immediately.” “We have to get out of here” Were the words whispered by Matt. They slipped back outside in the fall night and ran into the woods where Sam feared would be their home. They walked deeper and deeper into the woods, when Matt made her fear come alive, “Looks like we should stay here for awhile, no body will find us out here.” Sam Shuddered at the word body, it was all her fault! She was stupid she should of covered the cuts on her arms! “I’ll go get wood for a fire” She needed time on her own, “Be safe” were the words Matt yelled after her. So she went off, decided weather to leave or go back. She was gone for hours and Matt went to look for her and finally found her in the dark sitting at the bottom of the tree. “Sam?” “How did you find me?” “I know you too well” He smiled his breathtaking smile. “Are you coming back to the fire?” “I don’t know Matt, this is crazy we should turn ourselves in and explain!” “No it’s to late, you’re either part of the run away gang or you’re not. Decide now.” She sighed “Okay I’m in.” Matt help her up and back to the fire, what had she just gotten herself into?

*The Following Morning*

Matt was up first and he knew what he had to do. He left the sleeping girls and headed for town, he needed weapons. He reached the hunting shop on the edge of town and managed to swipe some bow and arrows and a knife for each of the girls. When he got back Sam was wide awake. “I wasn’t leaving.” “I thought you had left us on our own” “No, there was some things that had to be done.” “Like?” Sam looked up at him with a furious look. “Weapons.” She looked at the two knifes and selected the double sided batman knife, leaving the butterfly knife for Violet. Violet Lacoy, Sam’s best friend. She had dirty blonde hair, tan, smart, and pretty. Also as she put it she was “single and extremely available.” Now back to the story. “Violet wake up, it’s time to run we have to make it to Maine before night fall and we’re only in Southbridge.” They all got up and ready, with empty stomachs no one had motivation to run. They gotta find food were Matt’s thought. “Get a fire going I’m going to go find meat.” So the girls built a fire, but that’s not the fun part. Hunting is the fun part. Matt scrambled up into the large pine tree that hasn’t lost his needles yet and took a sniper position with his bow. It was a good 30 minutes before he heard anything the all of this sudden was the soft sound of hooves on a forest floor. Matt took aim and waited for the perfect shot. The whoosh of the arrow taking flight was the only sound before the arrow pierced the buck’s skin. “Now just to haul this back to the girls.” Matt whispered to himself.

*a few minutes later*

“Oh my god. Look at the size of that!” Were the first words out of Violet’s mouth “Where’d you find that thing?” Piped up Sam. “In the woods, where else?” They got the fire going and had deer meat for breakfast and were back to running by 9am. Sam was finally missing home, and what did her parents think of her? Do they still love her? Would they even care? The thoughts just made her run faster, the others struggled to keep up with her. Then just when Matt thought they could actually make it he could keep the girls safe, especially Sam the lights and sounds of a cop car erupted behind them.
