Flashback Chapter

This is a flashback chapter about how Roc met Jene...So don't get confused.They're seniors in high school.They're still in New York.

It was 12:45 on Sunday night and Roc had just gotten in from running the streets all night.He was momma was sitting on the couch.It was just him and her since his brother had been shot a few years ago,then his daddy got arrested a year later.He got caught up in some murder charges,got life and a chance with parole if he acts right.His momma was worried that Roc was going to end up just like his brother or his daddy.Roc walked in and fixed him something to eat. His momma walked in the kitchen,this had became a regular thing now.

She crossed her arms."Chresanto where the hell have you been?!"he ignored her."I know you her me talking to your ass!"

He got irritated,not wanting to eat anymore,he shoved his plate on the counter,making the food go everywhere."I was out!Okay momma!!"

She slapped him "I don't know who the hell you thank you talking to like that,but it shoal ain't me."

"Well maybe you stay out my damn business we wouldn't have this damn problem."

She looked at him in shock."Chresanto,you're only 17 fucking years old!Where the fuck you be at every night?You don't have a damn car.I'm asking you because you're my child and you're staying in my house!I care about you.I love you!I don't want you to end up like your daddy or your brother."

"Maybe you care and love me too much.I do what I'm doing because I want justice for my damn brother.Them white folks don't give a damn about him,because where we stay.We live in the projects.Ma them folks don't care.They just lie to us and they gone find out who did it.Its been almost 5 years.I ain't stopping until I'm 6 feet under."With that he walked upstairs and took a shower,then went to sleep.

Momma August sighed and cleaned up the mess Roc had made.She started praying "Lord please just give me strength and please guide my baby boy in the right direction and out the streets.He the only one I got left.Please don't let these streets take him away."

The next day Roc got up and did his regular morning routine and off to school,dressed in a true Religion shirt,jeans and a pair of all white forces.He met up with Ray and a couple more of their friends."Wassup man?"

"Nothing,but check out lil momma across the hallway."

Roc smirked and closed his locker,"Which one?"

"The one with purple book bag on."

Roc looked,the girl looked familiar.Her and Roc had some classes together."Oh,I think her name Jene.She fine man,but she so quiet."

Ray laughed "Shit I will holler at her if you don't."He started to walk over to her.

Roc pulled him back as the bell rung."Nawl man.I ain't gone let you do that.Find another one."Ray shook his head and walked to class.

At lunch Jene was sitting with Kaka,her best friend.They were so close and so much alike they call each twin.Everybody knew they were best friends and didn't fuck with no other people.Everybody knew they were close and if one fight they both fight,thy were practically sisters.Jene was naive and outgoing,while Kaka was quiet and shy,but she was a female thug.Everyone at the school knew this.She always had a gun on her.Jene thought it was crazy,but where Kaka lives,you need one.Roc walked up to the table.He smiled at Jene."Hey I'm Roc."

Jene smiled slightly "I'm Jene and this is my best friend Kaka."

Kaka waved "Imma let you talk to him."Before Jene could say anything Kaka got up,looking annoyed and walked off.Jene sighed.

"I'm sorry for running your friend off."

Jene sighed again "Its not your fault,she just doesn't like meeting new people."

Roc nodded,"Sooo,I was wondering would you like to hang out sometime?"Roc flashed her a smile.

She blushed "Yea.We can hang out tonight."

"See tonight then."He smiled to himself as the bell rung

Later that night Kaka was helping Jene get ready while telling her about her encounter with Ray.(If you don't remember it was in the first book.)

"So you telling me,you almost shot him?"Jene bursted out laughing.

Kaka was flat ironing Jene's thick curly hair "Yes,I mean he just rolled up on me like that."

Jene couldn't stop laughing"What happened after that?"

Kaka shrugged "Nothing foreal.He gave me his number and left me alone."

Jene laughed "Why you tripping?You know you like that boy!"

Kaka finished Jene's hair with a feather bang "I mean,I do,but you know how I am."

Jene sighed and started to put on some mascara,"Stop being scared and give him a chance "Okay?You don't know,you might end up marrying him."

Kaka sighed "Whatever."She looked out the window."Your date is here."

Jene jumped up and down."I'm so nervous."

"You will be fine."

Jene nodded "How do I look?"

"Good!Go!"

"How you getting home?"

"Don't worry about me.Go have fun."

Jene sighed "Okay,be safe."They hugged each other and Jene left.

Jene and Roc went out to eat and then the movies,they learned a lot about each other.Jene stayed out past her curfew,her daddy kept calling her,when she finally answered he fussed out her.She sighed letting all her anger out."I can't stand him!He always does this."

Roc hugged her,"Wanna come to my house?"Jene looked at him crazy.He sighed "Look I know you heard a lot about me and how all I do is smash and pass,that's old.I changed a lot.I wouldn't want to hurt you.I sew how different you are from all these other girls.you don't throw yourself at me,trying to get my attention.Please give me a chance,if I fuck it up,you don't have to ever talk to me again."

Jene sighed "Okay,I guess,I can give you a chance."

Thats how Jene and Roc met,over the weeks they became best friends then a couple,same for Kaka and Ray.They were the couples of the year.People hated and talked down about their relationships and tried to break them up,but they still stayed together.Roc and Ray play friends,but had a major respect because of their reputation.Roc and Ray figured all them niggas were fake anyway,they only needed each other and Jene and Kaka.
