I Know (Sirius Black One Shot)

A/N: Howdy!  It's Aleia here.  Sorry I haven't been uploading lately, but I've been busy with other stuff.  Anyways, here's a one shot that I worked on for PointxofxnoxReturn on Quizilla.  I don't know if you're reading this right now, but if you are, HERE IT IS!!! I hope you like it! :)

"Peter, be quiet!" It was a hushed whisper.  They were trying not to wake me, but I'd been awake since they stepped out of their beds.

"I-I'm s-sorry, Sirius!" he spluttered back.  "I can't help it.  I talk out of nervousness."

"Will both of you hush up," I heard James mutter.  "You're going to get us caught."

I heard them slowly trying to make their way over by me.  It sounded as if someone was trying to softly stomp their feet.  And besides, if their voices and that didn't wake me up, the amount of light would have.  All four of the Marauder's wands were lit.  Add that to the roaring fire, and you got yourself faux-sunshine.

"You've been caught for a long time, James," I said to them, projecting my voice enough so they could hear, but not wake anyone else up.

"Dammit," Sirius mumbled, putting a dung bomb behind his back.

I stood up and looked at glared at them, my arms crossed in front of my chest.  "You guys are idiots," I growled.  "Did you really think that you'd find me still fast asleep?"  My eyebrows were raised high.

"I didn't," Remus admitted.  He grinned shyly and glanced at me.  "I know you.  You never sleep."

I smiled at him.  "That's right!" I turned to the other three boys.  I pointed at Remus.  "You guys could really learn from this guy."

"Oh, well,"  Peter sighed miserably.  "It was worth a shot."  He clapped Sirius on the back.  "C'mon guys.  Let's go."

Remus and James followed him, and I could tell he was excited that they actually listened.  Well, except for Sirius who was standing in front of me, his hands tucked in his pockets.  Sirius's dark hair flopped in his face as he looked up at me with his grey eyes.

"Go on," he told the other three, waving them off.  "I gotta do something . . ."

James winked, for some reason, and went up the stairs.  I waved madly a Remus, who had turned back to give me a huge grin.  I smiled grimly at Peter who turned around and gawked at me. 

I rolled my eyes and looked back at Sirius who had stepped closer to me.  "So . . .  What did you need to do?"

He grinned softly, but there was a wicked tint to it.  "First, I need to tell you something."

I sat down and patted the spot next to me.  "Shoot," I said as he sat down.

"We've known each other for a long time," he started.  I nodded and he continued.  "And we've been extremely close for the past few years."
