"So, when is this new kid gonna get here, anyway?" Noah said with a distinct tone of boredom. He sat in a routine desk, in a plain room where everyone dressed in the same uninteresting uniforms. The walls were lined with posters that displayed a feeble attempt to be inspirational.Kids were whispering to each other as the young woman in the front of the classroom desperately tried to quiet them; tried, but failed miserably.
Noah himself wore the customary uniform; khaki pants, and a white button-down shirt, with a black tie. He had his sleeves rolled up just above his elbow, and wore an array of bracelets. His hair was a light brown, and was styled up revealing his pale forehead. His eyes were green as grass, but weren't very captivating. They most certainly were not the eyes that would grasp your attention and hold it hostage, but they did make you take at least two glances. He had very fair skin, perfectly flawless. He had no acne on his face, no scars, no freckles, and no moles. It was obvious he was very attractive.
"How am I supposed to know?" replied Rebecca shrewdly. Rebecca was Noah's best friend, and showed a completely lack of respect for the dress code, as she wore skinny jeans while the other girls wore the khaki skirts. "Miss Clare said that he would get here sometime today."
A boy entered the classroom with a fearful, timid expression on his face. Immediately, he drew Noah's gaze, and kept it for some time, although, looking at Noah you wouldn't be able to tell if it was intrigue or disdain.
"Um, hi." He said cautiously. Raising his hand and waving to the class, he continued, "My name is Alec." Alec had dark hair, almost black, a perfect contradiction to his light blue eyes. They stuck out very blatantly, and were beautiful. They seemed to ripple with every blink, releasing pulsing waves that attracted everyone's eyes. His skin was darker than Noah's, though still pale.
"Oh, hello Alec," Miss Clare proudly announced. She licked her lips as she searched the room for an open seat, until her gaze met one a few seats behind Noah. "Ah, there. Sit there," she said.
Alec shifted silently through the maze of desks and made his way to the empty seat, put his stuff down, and sat. He rummaged through his messenger bag and pulled out a very organized binder, placed it meticulously on his desk, and continued to search, pulling out a pencil and a notebook. He put them both beside his binder and readied himself for notes.
He squirmed in his seat uncomfortably, glancing around the room until he met eyes with Noah, who had been watching him the entire time. Alec quickly looked away, and down at his paper, pretending to write something.
Noah seemed unaffected, still watching as the muscles in Alec's arm twitched and moved as he wrote.
"Mr. Lansing, please face front," Miss Clare said with a soft squeak, as her voice usually had.Noah broke his stare and faced the front of the class.
Alec glanced up secretly, attempting to hide it from the rest of the class, and watched Noah. Noah was resting his chin in his hand, while he studied the walls; he had studied them many times before, but this helped to relieve some of the boredom class produced.
Alec looked entranced, his eyes following Noah's every shift, even his minutest of movements. As Miss Clare went on in the front of the class, fixed her classes constantly, Noah turned and met Alec's gaze. Alec jumped in his seat, quickly positioning his stare elsewhere. Noah laughed lightly, and smiled.
"Is there something you'd like to share, Noah?" Miss Clare said abruptly. Noah turned his head lazily, his attention only half on what Miss Clare had said.
"Huh?" he said, "Oh, nothing."
"Then, please, face forward, and be silent." She hissed at him, very unlike her. It surprised him, his eyes widened, and he looked down at his blank notebook paper. As he quickly scribbled down what she had written on the board, the bell rang loudly, disturbing her lecture. The kids all stood up, ignoring her, and gathered their things.
