October 1816 - Winters
Lena leaned against the back wall of the auditorium, lost in thought. Today was orientation, or as Lena liked to call it, 'What you can and can not do'. Being a senior at the academy, Lena didn't have to attend orientation, but she did anyway.
"And it's the same thing, over and over again," she mumbled to herself. "No interaction with students from Darkhaven, lights out after curfew..."
Lena rolled her eyes.
"And absolutely no use of our powers outside of school," she heard someone say.
Out of curiosity, Lena looked up to see her friend Wren standing next to her, chewing a mint leaf. She grinned at him.
"Good to see that you're still doing that out of habit," Lena said, pushing her hands further into the pockets of her jacket.
"Well, it isn't everyday that we have to listen to the Dean make a fool of herself," he replied.
"Yet her speech never seems to change as the years go by," she stated, smirking at Wren.
The two both fell silent as they heard someone tapping the microphone urgently.
"Before you all go and get settled into your rooms, I have one last announcement to make," Deanna Winchester, the Dean, told the audience.
"Well, this is new," Lena whispered to Wren, paying more attention to Dean Winchester.
The Dean cleared her throat before she continued.
"You might have heard this already, but I would like to confirm the rumors that are currently circulating around here." Deanna's eyes went from a sky blue to a dark, foreboding red. "The Oracle has indeed foretold a prophecy of a student at this school, but..." -she held her hand up, resulting in the silence of the student body- "...the prophecy isn't to occur for another two-hundred years. Be thankful that it isn't to happen now."
Lena tuned out the rest of the Dean's speech and turned to leave.
"Lena, where are you going?" Wren said, tuning his attention to his best friend.
She stopped, but only for a moment.
"I know what is going to happen on that day, Wren," Lena told him. "And I know who the child of prophecy is going to be..."
Trailing off, she proceeded to open the door when he called out to her again.
"What do you mean, Lena?" Wren asked her in confusion.
She looked at him and smiled.
"My descendant is going to be part of the prophecy, Wren," she told him. "And I know that she will make my ancestors proud."
That was the last time Wren ever saw Lena Winters.
