"Doctor Scott?" His voice was rough as it echoed through the static of my old office phone.
"This is she."
"This is Ethan Dolan. I'm calling in regards to my brother. Grayson. I had called before." He spoke soft.
I remember. He had left a few messages yesterday. More messages than normal for a new patient. I was planning on calling him back after-hours but it looks as if he had beat me to it.
"Yes, I was going to call you as soon as I got the chance." I mentioned.
He hummed in response.
"I can get him in tomorrow if that works for you Mr.Dolan." I said looking at my calendar.
"That would be great!" He sounded surprised.

"would you like to start with a quick introduction of yourself?" I asked him.
He hadn't looked at me since we sat down and now that I think of it the only time we have held eye contact was when I introduced myself earlier.
"We already introduced ourselves." He mumbled.
I chuckled to myself at his wittiness.
"Well, We know each others names. I don't know your hobbies or interest."
I had my case file on Grayson but it was pretty bare. Just the basic patient information was written on the lines. But I wanted personality. I wanted to find out who Grayson is. He moved his gaze on me and stared for a while.
"Lets be real. All you want to know is what makes me tick and what kind of thoughts I have so you can fill me with drugs to subside them." His eyes almost seemed grey with his words although they were a deep hazel.
I was rushed with a feeling that when Grayson had been through this before, he had many doctors who didn't care to listen. I clicked my pen shut and placed it on my clipboard. I nodded slowly as I set the board on my side table. Crossing my legs and resting my hands on my knee ,I smiled.
"Well since we our getting to know each other I should let you know I prefer not to prescribe my patients drugs." I said watching as his face scrunched with confusion.
"Why?" He asked small.
Grayson has shown me his wall.
I plan to break it.
"Unless my patients are severely ill I prefer to use interaction and self help exercises to get through whatever it is that is troubling them." I stated.
Which was true. I usually do not turn to prescription drugs to heal my patients because I feel as if its just as lazy as putting slim to no effort in healing them. I tried my best to help naturally.
"Really?" He asked seeming as if he didn't believe me.
"Yes. And frankly I do not think you have a severe illness."
"How would you know?"
"I read your files."
"So if you've read my files why are we wasting time getting to know each other." He was very hostile.
Seemingly annoyed Grayson shifted on the couch.
"Your files told me only about your medical. Nothing about you personally."
I usually don't disregard the paperwork I fill out during the first appointment as it is the most important. But talking to Grayson and holding eye contact was seemingly something he needed.
