The water rose higher and higher with every passing moment. No one knew where it was coming from or why it was there.

“It is almost to the roof!” someone shouted.

“It is going to kill us before we can get help!” another yelled back.

People were scurrying around trying to stop the spontaneous flood but none could. The ugly truth was no one could stop it. No one could even find the source. The clear water was flowing and flowing and the people were screaming and screaming. People chanted prayers others tried to swim down and find an exit but there was none. Suddenly things started swimming around in circles like sharks circling around its prey.

“GOD HELP US!”

“SOMEONE GET ME OUT!” the choruses of shouts were useless.

The black figures slowly started taking the shape of humans, with wings.

“The angels have heard our cries and have come to save us.” One man sighed with relief.

One slowly raised up from the water which was becoming cloudy and spoke “We are not angels of the lord foolish people. We are demons here to collect our prize. For years we have waited under these waters waiting for a group of selfish, overgrown brats to come. All your lives the only thing you cared about is money and fame. How will that help you now?” the black faceless creature then reached out and grabbed the closest man and opened its’ now visible mouth and licked its’ sharp teeth and bit the man .The crimson blood poured slowly down to the dirty water dyeing its’ color to the color of his blood.  Shrieks rang out as if they were church bells.  The man’s body slowly blew away like dust. “You shall all meet the same fate as him.” The figures leaped out of the water attacking every person in wake. All but one. All but you. You swam through the water fighting to survive. The figures seemed to spare you. Of course they would spare you. You have never met any of these people before today. You also find their way of life vulgar and disgusting. They would sell their own flesh and blood out if they thought it would give them an economic gain. The figures knew this. Because of this the figures spared your little life. They let you live. Not to spread word of this and reap for the others misfortune, but to spread this way of life. The way that you live.

The pang of guilt of not helping these people soon began to ache. Saving them meant death, leaving them meant life. But you knew what was right. You swam to the nearest person. A woman in her late 50’s holding a purple bag. “HELP HELP SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE ME.” You hurried to her side reaching out on arm for her to grab. A black figure slowly crept near. Right as she swam toward you the figure jumped behind you. “TAKE THEM TAKE THEM SPARE ME!” she pushed you into the figure and swam off. Knowing the choice you made would eventually end your life you opened your arms and welcomed death.

It never came. The figure simply swam around and killed the woman. You, once again, were spared. Nothing you could do could save anyone. As you floated there the screams continued. Slowly one by one the noise got quieter and quieter and the figures were less and less, till there was just you and one black angel of death. “Stay well, stay kind. Or else I shall meet you again but no be so lucky. The angel swam down into the crimson water taking the color with it. The water was once again clear.  It drained out leaving the room as it was. The boat unscathed. You walked up to the deck and continued as you were. This was years ago. The memories are still fresh in your mind. At night the shadows from the windows don’t scare you as they once did. You know what they are. The angels of death making the world a better place. One evil person at a time as you, the kind hearted person,  live with this knowledge.
