The Secret

Chapter 2

I'm still shocked as I keep repeating to myself, I'm a dragon rider, I'm a dragon rider. Still in disbelief I knew I couldn't tell anyone until the time is right. Suddenly I heard a voice," Hi Alicia," the voice said. " What who is that!", I yell as I whirled around. "I'm Alistair. I'm the dragon you found, I'm the one that sent you those dreams as well," he explained. "Oh, that's why I thought I remembered something about your egg. Wait, if I can hear your thoughts why are you still in the egg," I said as calmly as I could." It's not the right time yet. Once the time has come I'll hatch and we will see what happens from there. I must go I'm tired and the more rest I get the more of a chance that I might hatch,"he said with a yawn." Ok," I responded and hid him somewhere safe, well what I think is safe anyway.
I left to go to my family before they could suspect anything, I couldn't help but worry. What if something bad happens and I'm  not there to protect him? Oh, Alistair I don't know what to do. What if you get taken? What if you get found and then dropped before you hatch? I scolded myself for thinking such negative thoughts. Stop worrying I'll be fine. Alistair will be fine, I hope.
The day seemed to stretch on  forever. Worrying and trying to interact with family didn't help as much as I hoped it would. I couldn't wait to get to my room and grab Alistair, well his egg at least. I wanted to sleep with him next to me, but I have to make sure I don't roll in him. He still hasn't hatched, and I keep waiting wondering when this right moment will come. It was almost time for bed, too close and I needed to go before I scream in agony from being away for so long. I told everyone I was tired and left to go to bed, when suddenly Stephan ( a boy who I've liked since 3rd grade) walks in. My heart was about to explode out when he looked at me and smiled a gentle smile. I smiled back of course but knew I had to leave before it got awkward.
      I ran to my room forgetting about Stephan for the moment.
"Alistair", I say quietly having a sudden weird feeling.
     When she leaves I feel her sadness as she doesn't want to leave. She wants to protect me, which is what a dragon rider is supposed to do. I don't want her to leave but she made the right decision on going so no one got suspicious. I spoke to her, Alicia. I like her name. I want to get out but the thing around me is too hard yet. Wait, I see light! It's time to meet my rider, it's finally time. Get ready Alicia I'm coming.
      I come in with the egg on the floor. Oh no, I think. As I'm thinking that it was my fault, I see a flash of white. What the heck was that. Finally I move toward where the white shape disappeared." Hello", I say."Don't freak out ok. I'm fine I just hatched all of a sudden. It's ok Alicia," says Alistair. I feel happy to hear him, but he sensed my surprise when I saw beautiful scales mix with feathers all around him because he smiled a gentle toothy grin." You're beautiful", I say. He nods as in to say thank you. I smile." What do we do now? I know you're going to grow where are we gonna go?" I ask. He looked at me as if he suddenly started thinking of the same thing." I don't know actually. I never thought of that." He answers. Crap, I think.
I thought for the next 4 hours, unable to sleep because I needed to put him somewhere along with me, even if it takes me away from family. As I think of that I shudder. Will I be able to do it, leave my family to save my dragon? Yes, I think. I have to. For Alistair. He wouldn't survive without me because I'm his rider as he is my dragon which I can't live without either. It would be to difficult for such a thought as I look at him. His deep blue eyes stare at me. He is white with butterfly like ears and and deep blue swirls under his wings and around his tail. I look in awe at how beautiful he is.
       I look at my mark which I guess didn't notice but turn different colors. Actually the mark looked exactly like Alistair. I look from him to my mark and back to him. He looked as well and was stunned to see it. Suddenly his eyes look at me with an idea type look. " Ok it might be a long shot. But I may know where we can go," He said hesitantly." What?" I say a little shakily." I have a feeling that there is a hidden kingdom in the forest. That may be where our journey sends us." He says. Stunned, I have the same feeling. " Then that is where we shall go," I say.
