Chapter 44

Tori's Pov

"Beck, watch out!" I screeched as he hit the breaks. He slammed his palms against the steering wheel and said some colorful words. The stoplight's red light gleams against the now dusk sky. How'd I even get here? I mean I know how I got into his car, but when did my life turn into one of those thrilling teenage movies. You know the ones that are above Netflix worthy.

I watch us pass trees and the streets start to look more familiar to me. I spot my street and then I hear my phone's notification sound ring.

"Who is it?" Beck asks me.

"My mom?" I tell him hearing it sound more like a question than a statement.

"What'd she say?"

"It's a voicemail." I tell him while pressing the green button on my pear phone. I hear muffling and then her voice.

"Hi sweetie. I'm so happy you and Trina are having fun. High school parties are the best. Anyways we should be getting in late tonight. Just make sure your back from Ryder's party before 11. Also, I'm really happy you forgave that douche. Just-"

"Ma'am no calls allowed while departing."

"Oh of course, see you guys tonight." She finished and the voicemail ended.

"Tori, who sent the message?" He asks while turning the vehicle slowly.

I tap my phone and open my messages. I see the last person I texted was my mom.

"Me." I tell him looking at the message I never actually sent.

"That's impossible. You never to-

He continues talking while parking but I spot something that I wish I didn't.

"Trina." I whisper. But I would only whisper it once.

"Trina!" I screech opening Beck's door and running out of the car to my sister grasping a knife in her stomach.

"Tori, I want you to r-run" Trina gasped adding pressure to the wound. I hear chains and boots running against the pavement. I know Beck's right next to me weather I'm paying attention or not. He's always been right there.

"Why woul-" that's when it starts. A bullet is shot and beck is covering me.

I scream.

"Fuck!" Beck growls on top of me, and then I feel it. The warm, gushy, hot feeling of blood on my back. Not my blood, Beck's. He won't die, not today. Tears sting my eyes and the last thing we need is a crybaby in our predicament. Suddenly a weight is lifted. Not an emotional tether, an actual weight, Beck's body.

"BECK!" I begin to shout while I whip around.

I see the wound is in Beck's forearm, nothing too serious, but the full picture is. Ryder Daniels holding a gun barrel to Beck's head with Josie standing right behind him, pistol in hand. Ryder has his hand on Beck's wrist, probably causing more pain than pleasure.

"Well, I know someone who wants to see you." Josie says darkly with a confidence I've never seen.

The last thing I remember is my hair being yanked in Josie's grip and blinding pain before I don't see a thing.
