" Keep running, Anya. You have too!" His voice was so worried. " Run!"

This hadn't been the first time he experienced something like this. I remembered when it had happened. It was a painful memory for him...for all of us. The day he became alone...or well sort of. I couldn't give up for his sake and all the others. I kept motivating myself. Telling myself I could make it out of this like I've done all the others times I done in the past. Every step I took I seemed to get louder. In fact everything sounded louder.

Landon's voice, my thoughts to keep me motivated, my feet pounding against the cold marble floor, the racing of my heart, the footsteps of my pursuers. It felt so...unbearable but kept me moving. Kept me going.

" You have to get them off your trail."

I know...

" Wait don't turn there! It's-,"

A dead end...

" No, no, no, NO! This wasn't suppose to happen! Turn around Anya."

" Landon you know I can't. They're getting closer. I have no where else to go."

Silence. He wasn't going to accept it. He wasn't the kind to give up in a situation like this but he knew we had to resort to one last thing. The only thing that will determine if I make it out of here alive or die by being found.

" Are there any security cameras around where you are?" He asked with a twinge of hope in his voice. I looked for any cameras in the corridor I was in. There was none. Perfect.

" There's none."

" Thank god. Now hide and pray it works..."

" Got it," Swiftly I press my back against the corner at the end of the wall and press a button on my watch. Silently I wait for them to come around the corner.

One minute...

Two minutes....

Now three. The yelling had all now ceased. All that could be heard was their cautious footsteps coming closer and closer to the corridor I was cornered in. My breath hitched as I saw the first guy coming into view. I wish I had a trick up my sleeve. That this was our plan. To make them think they had me cornered only to prove we were more superior and backfired their plan. If only that was true...

Looking back I wondered why had it come to this? Why did this even have to even happen? All the suffering, the killing. Was it all for nothing? Should I have given up a long time ago?

No! The others are counting on me to make it. Just a few more minutes and they'll be gone. I'm sure of it. No point in losing hope now even though I felt devoid of it. The watch was only a prototype. Landon hadn't been able to finish it and we both were working out the kinks. Praying that the thing would keep me invisible just for a little bit longer I look up at the plain gray ceiling, thinking about all the things that had lead me to this very moment.
