This is my first fanfiction (I have written for other books and stuff, but not like this) so please be nice ;)

Josh watched the rain drizzle down the bay window, as his Gatorade rolled down his chin. He put his cup down, and flipped through pictures on Instagram.

He was watching the Matthew's apartment while they went to Seattle for one of Topanga's cases. Although it was for Topanga's job, Riley and Auggie thought of it as a family vacation. Josh was just a little bit jealous that they didn't think of him, but they understood that they only had 4 tickets. But he liked having a big apartment all to himself anyway.

Although he would have liked to go, he was surprised that Maya wasn't tagging along with them. She was basically family, and she went to all the family trips. He wondered where she was now without Riley by her side.

He started thinking about Maya. Her laugh, her curves, her hair, her smile. Ever since the ski lodge, he couldn't get Maya out of his head. He haunted him, constantly appearing in his dreams and flooding his thoughts.

Suddenly, he heard a faint and light sob from outside the door. He shivered at the sound, and got up from his spot at the bay window to open it. He turned the knob hesitantly, and opened the door. What he saw broke his heart.

A blonde girl was curled up next to the door, sobbing her eyes out. She was wearing a breezy and loose green top, with black leggings and brown boots. She looked as blue and cold as snow, and she shook like the strongest earthquake on Earth was hitting. Josh immediately rushed to her side. He knew who it was. It was Maya.

"Maya! Maya, what's wrong?" He said calmly, caressing her knee with his thumb. Startled, Maya shot up. Tears we're not stopping, flowing down her cheeks like a waterfall. She had bruises under her eye, and a bleeding lip. Shaky breaths escaped her mouth, and she stared at Josh pleading for warmth. She didn't say a single word.

Josh's breath hitched, and he clenched his fist with one hand. The other hand moved to intertwine his fingers with her own. Whoever hurt his Maya was gonna get a taste of their own medicine.

Maya tried to bite her bottom lip to stop the cries that escaped her mouth, but failed. She gave in, and began to sob louder. Josh reacted quickly, gently picking her up and bringing her inside. She pressed her face to his chest, muffled sobs escaping. Josh felt the tears soaking his shirt, and he turned pale. Oh man, someone was gonna pay for doing this to his little ferret.

Josh sat on the couch, with Maya still in his lap. She shifted, wrapping her arms around his body and her cries becoming softer. She felt his warmth, and she felt safe. She slowly drifted off to sleep, as Josh whispered sweet nothings into her ear and told her it was going to be okay.

"Shh...I'm here," Josh whispered, running a thumb up and down her back.

She stopped crying and shaking, and was very quiet. Josh pulled her away slightly, but still held on to her waist. She had fallen asleep. Josh landed a soft kiss on her forehead, and lifted himself from the couch slowly and carefully to get Maya a blanket.

He wrapped her up in the blanket, putting a small ice pack on her face and wiping away her cuts. All he wanted to do was be there for her all the time, and keep her safe.

Josh really, really wanted to date her. A lot.

He watched her tense face soften, as she let out a very slow huff of air. As she relaxed more, he slid under the blanket and wrapped his arms around her lightly. He wanted to protect her.

The next morning, Maya explained what happened.

"M-my dad was supposed to meet me for dinner to sign a paper so he...C-could give up h-his parental rights." He breathed shakily, and continued. "He refused, a-and he...punched me in the face..." She was crying now. "H-he left me there and I had to walk."

Josh had had enough. Nobody hurts Maya. Nobody. He got up from the couch, grabbed his keys, and rushed towards the door without a word. He looked pale, and angry. Each step he took was loud, and even the people below him could her the banging of his steps.

"Where a-are you going?" She said shyly.

"To take care of something."

And with that, he left. Maya let a few tears fall, and sunk back into her pillow. She starred at the ceiling, until she heard keys rattle in the door. She got up, and saw Josh standing in the doorway.

He ran up to her, barely hesitating, and cupped her cheek. He kissed her gently, his lips moving slowly on hers. They moved in sync, and Maya whimpered at his touch. She was in awe. Josh Matthews was her first kiss. Uncle Boing. It felt like hundreds of butterflies were flying around in her stomach. He sucked on her bottom lip, making her melt onto him.

They kissed for a few more seconds, before he slowly let go. Their foreheads touched, as the felt their breaths on each other's skin. They stayed like that for 10 seconds.

"I love you," He whispered, making his way out the door once again to take care of her dad once and for all.

Maya sat there, the biggest smile stretching across her face.

Hope you enjoyed it, I will write more soon. Sorry for the tiny cliffhanger :3 Bye!
