tyler's POV
Today's the day I'm leaving for America. My life is miserable here in Australia. My dad abandoned me, I just got dumped by my long term boyfriend, and my best friend Matilda passed away while we were surfing last month.

I'm moving to Los Angeles because I can't handle it here. My life is a mess. It's time for a fresh start. This is the last time I'll ever see my house. I've grown up here because I've never moved.

My mum is driving me to the Sydney airport. I'm passing all of my favourite places. Chargrill Charlies the best burger place in town (A/N: it is actually sooooo good! just saying.), Manly beach, Bondi, the corner store, and Matilda's and my little spot on the cliff. We would watch the surf, sunsets, whales, dolphins and everything else you would see at the beach. It was great. Was.

"Bye honey! I'm going to miss you so so much. I love you so much and please stay safe." Said my mum as she pulled me into a massive hug.

"I'm gonna miss you too mum! I'll keep in touch with you. I love you too and yes I will stay safe." I pulled back from the hug and grabbed my suitcase.

"Flight 276 to Los Angeles is boarding now. Please go to Gate 11." Said a muffled voice over the intercom.

"Bye mum love you!" I waved and headed over to the gate for boarding.

The flight attendants went through the usual safety routine which I didn't pay any attention to what so ever. I decided to listen to some music. So I put my headphones in and drifted off to sleep for the 20 hour flight to LA.

6am, Los Angeles
"Um, excuse me ma'am. We have just landed in Los Angeles." I woken up by a flight attendant.

"Thank you." I replied, grabbing my carry on bag and exiting the plane. I stepped into the airport and walked over to the luggage collection for my plane. I found my bag and went to find my ride.

There was a tall man with a sign with my name on it 'tyler Mitchell'. I walked over to him.

"Hi! I'm tyler." I said putting my luggage down to shake his hand.

"Hello, I'm Sean Dolan. I'm going to be driving you to your apartment block." He replied taking my luggage and putting it in the boot of his black Range Rover.

I hopped into the backseat and he began to drive. We sat there in silence for a couple of minutes and it was getting pretty awkward and it was killing me. I turned on my phone and messaged my mum telling her I got there safely and was on my way to the apartment.

"So where are you from tyler?" He asked breaking the silence. Hallelujah!

"Australia." I answered switching off my phone.

"Oh that's lovely! My wife and I went there for a holiday once. The beaches are beautiful. What made you want to move to Los Angeles?" Man was this guy a talker. I love him, because I can never start a conversation.

"Well, I was having a rough time over there. My dad left my mum when I was 8, my long term boyfriend dumped me and my bestfriend passed away when we were out surfing. I couldn't take it over there anymore. So I moved over here for a fresh start." I tried to control my emotions but a tear slid down my cheek.

"Oh my goodness! That's so sad, well I hope LA treats you better." He said, sympathy filled his voice.

Then the silence came back for another 10 minutes before Sean told me that we were only 5 minutes away from my apartment complex.

"Thanks so much for the lift Sean. Hopefully I'll see you around." I wave goodbye and walk into the foyer.

I grab my key from the front desk and walk up to my room which is on the 3rd floor. I look at the doors searching for my room, the apartment number is 394 and it's right at the end of the hall.
