The busy city streets loudly roaring in the distance was unsettling to them. They leaned against the wall corner anxiously, their heart racing, but their breathing silent. They were scared, and their thoughts were still swarming in their head, but they finally cleared their mind enough to do what they came there for. They dragged a heavy carcass wrapped in canvas to the side of the calm, black river, which reflected the night sky and waning gibbous moon in a spectrum of chroma. Harsh and urgently, they ripped open the material, showing the lifeless face of a corpse. Their anxiety returned just as harsh as it has been, and they lamented a sob as they messily tied blocks of cement to the bag. Biting their lip to keep from crying, they knelt down and shoved the carcass off of the ledge creating a splash and watched as the body's closed eyes disappeared into the dark, calm waters. They were cold, and just sitting there wasn't helping much, but they didn't want to leave. They wanted to stay in that spot forever without life continuing; they wanted time to stop.
