The Secret

Chapter 3

   We started on our way. We left that night though so that I wouldn't get too upset about leaving my family. I was sad to know that they were going to look frantically for me. But I knew I had to leave as I look at Alistair and smiled. He always made me happy. " Soon I'll have power to protect you with. I'm just not old enough yet," Alistair said. I was happy to hear his voice. Alistair is big for being 2 days old, actually he was as big as a house. He told me that dragons grow really fast, especially him because he has waited for me for hundreds of years. We walked for weeks. It took forever, the forest was bigger than I thought. We also had a lot of stops so Alistair could hunt and practice flying. He is so close, just gotta keep practicing.
      Finally one day he flew. Amazed I look at him high in the sky. He looked like he was meant to be up in the sky. He landed prancing around with happiness. I smile and hug him." I don't know what I would do without you. You changed my life. I love you Alistair, always." Me as well, I'd do anything for you. I promise I'll protect you to the day I die." I wince as he says die." Don't talk like that you'll always be with me won't you?" I ask scared." Of course I will Alicia. Don't worry," he explains making me feel better." Can I talk to you in my head too," I ask. " Of course. Takes some practice though. You'll have to think you have the power over your mind. Think that you can transfer the thought," he says." Ok I'll try," as I follow his instructions." Did I do it," I think.
" Yes! You did it Alicia, you did it. That was good for a first try," he says. I jump in excitement just as something thuds to the ground in front of me. I whirl around and say " What was-" as Alistair flies past me to get in front of me to protect me. Alistair growls as the other thing I couldn't see tried to move forward. I shove past Alistair, he growls a warning to me but I ignore him as I go to see what it is. I gasp as I see another dragon barely bigger than Alistair, but black and white. I saw that there was something on her back. I carefully go around, Alistair follows keeping an eye on the other dragon, I roll my eyes. I gasp as I see another rider in a black cloak. Staring at me with a confused look." Hello," I say casually. I waited for answer but it never came. I look at Alistair puzzled. He looked back at me with the same expression.
" Can I talk to the other dragon," as I ask him in my thoughts. He nods. Ok now let's see if I can do this. I look at the other dragon and say," Hi I'm Alicia and I'm wondering if everything is alright." She looks at me startled as if it were impossible to hear or talk to her. She hesitantly starts to speak," Hi. I'm Niveria. How can you talk to me. Do you have any magic or....." She looks at me as if she suddenly knew something." What is it. Is there something wrong with me? I'm sorry if there is," I say. I start to wonder what if there is something wrong with me. Suddenly the rider moves and looks at me. It was a boy about my age, and looked at me with puzzled eyes." What does everyone keep staring at me for! Alistair please tell me what's going on," I yell as I turn to my dragon. He looks at me and says, " She will explain." He looks at Niveria.
" The only way you could get into my head is...." still shaking her head. " What," I demand." The only way is if you are from the royal family as in the missing princess," she says. I look at the boy. " Then who are you," I ask. I'm trembling, how could this be. I've been lied to my whole life.       " I'm Arrow, I'm a royal guard. I protect the royal family. And now it's time to take you home," he says. My eyes are filled with tears. I turn to Alistair and everything went black.
